Teenage Engineering EP-133 K.O. II

seems they do, considering theyre moving in that direction

They aren’t so comparable … just look at the OP1 screen compared to the KOII “screen” which is a gel print placed over LEDs which fade in and out to give the illusion of movement …

Honestly I think blaming the shipment packaging, in a product that will like go in people’s bags and get put under similar pressures isn’t really great… ideal world it should have a more robust design. I get that going back and doing a revision is some a company will avoid at almost all cost as it is costly, personally I think this is one of those cases where it probably should.

Interesting to note in the Sonicstate NAMM video the TE rep says lots more features to come, I wonder what they have planned (aside from the already mentioned resampling and backup) and how they will be integrated into the interface?

The guy said they are doing that for the cheap stuff, but the expensive stuff is more just a “experiment to see what works and doesn’t” in his words… I don’t think this is the best approach given what these things cost… if anything it should be there other way around and the expensive stuff should be pretty locked down in quality.

are you hoping for them to retroactively change their older and more expensive products to be more repairable? only way forward is the future, and since they just put in a ton of money and effort into developing their own factory line, im sure the things coming down the line will follow similar design decisions. but they will also likely have the big spender items too whos vision is outside the scope of easily attainable parts. i dunno what it is you want tbh

I wonder what’s next in the EP-line further ahead, I really love the form factor and easiness in the K.O II!

Yeah yeah. They said the same about the OPZ. Remember?

I am hoping for a big brother of the po32, while the microtonic vst is still supported.

If only they’d issue an EP-120 Arcade II with algorithms from Plogue ChipSynths…

I don’t even care if they use custom parts, I just want them to have better support and available spare parts if they are going to be fiddly and break a lot. I don’t think that is too much to ask, nothing they make is very well made so at least have parts available.

Its all speculation but my take is the price point and playfulness of the product will attract a LOT more people, including casual producers who might be too intimidated to get other TE products … which means it will probably end up being the most or one of the most popular TE product… which will def increase its chance of getting more updates.

Currently on similar price point it’s already the most features heavy sampler/sample player way above the model:samples and slightly above the lofi-12.

The issue is that the outer box is literally right on top of the fader with no support. Typically most gear has a structure around it, whether it’s a styrofoam piece with the pressure points not being on buttons or faders or a second box. The faders that broke seem to be the boxes at the bottom of the shipping pallets which wound have much more weight on them than whatever you would put with it in a backpack. I think it’s built quite well.

So i wanted to know if anybody else is getting this weird glitch -
Today i turned on the KO2 with it being USBC powered and when i hit play it stutters and freezes and pauses and the sequence kind of lags. When i disconnect from USBC power and go battery only everything plays smoothly. I can reproduce this atm every time.
Im on the latest firmware. I don’t have a ton of samples loaded. This just started happening out of the blue. Thoughts?
@te-david

interesting. this happened to me once today for the very first time also while on USBC power but it happened only briefly one time and has not recurred since, neither on USB power or battery. im also on the latest FW

I’ve had this issue intermittently when connected to external MIDI sending and receiving. It may have to do with too many MIDI messages, note, cc, sync, active sensing, etc being recieved and overloading the buffer. This is my guess.

You could also have a MIDI feedback loop.

I had this exact glitch when trying to sync an EP133 to the op1 Field.
But since I didn’t see the SYNC activated on your screen, it might be something else.
Or MIDI data bug.

Take my money…
