Teenage Engineering EP-133 K.O. II

Just got an email to say mine is arriving tomorrow! 9 weeks wait, but over the moon

Anyone than me has a problem that Windows 11 don’t recognize EP-133 as a functional device which make I can’t update it and use the app. I have updated to FW 1.1.1 without problem, but can’t update to 1.1.2 now. Asked this before, made a ticket and waiting for this to be solved but wondered if perhaps I missed something before sending it away. Midi I/O + USB MIDI doesn’t work either by the way.

Yeah looks like the restock is in. Ordered mine today, £286 from Juno, 6 months 0% PayPal, bosh. Will advise on packaging, fader, speaker.

@te-david, the question came to me: the EP-133 has already a scale option with the root note. Is it too hard to make an ability to do ā€œsmart chordsā€ in it? Like the MicroFreak and Roli have, and many other synths as well? Thanks for considering it! :hugs:

There’s a GC near me that said they had some in stock. I called and they have six returns for bad faders and mismatched buttons. So they can’t sell any. I’m bummed. Was hoping round two had shown up.

yeah this is a great video. imo he gets it. this is one of the reasons the ko2 is great despite its limitations.

All I want is to record FX like the OG KO. It wasmy favorite part, and you can already have all FX going at once.

I enjoyed your video immensly. I was hoping you could go into more detail about the connections/settings? For example is the EP-133 getting or sending midi? I know you must be very busy and I thank you in advance for your time.

From the ongoing conversation in here it seems obvious the product is at the very start of its updates life. That would be a given that it shall be doing at the very least the same things its little brother ep-133 can do.

Maybe we will get to see a new updates for NAMM?

I enjoyed your video immensly. I was hoping you could go into more detail about ā€œthe killer feature.ā€ Is that a Novation Launchpad Pro? Will that work with the Launchpad-X? What exactly are the connections/settings? I know you must be very busy and I thank you in advance for your time.

not my video :slightly_smiling_face: only shared it

Not my video. I just loved it and thought you guys will too

Ughh getting the crackle of death followed by the crash. Seemed to have happened after committing 8 patterns. Maybe a memory thing? Gonna try deleting patterns

Edit - I think it’s the batteries

How do you delete the actual pattern? I’ve deleted all sounds in the pattern but the pattern still exists (albeit empty)

Also can you set a bar or two before changing a pattern? Atm changing patterns is almost instant

Thanks

How is everyone feeling about update 1.1.2?

I still haven’t made the jump and am totally fine at 1.1.1. Wondering if it’s stable and adds anything essential. Otherwise I’ll skip and wait for the next one.

Arrived via DHL this afternoon. Still the Ali packaging, but also had a thick plain cardboard outer box which I assume TE provided. Juno added a layer of thick bubble wrap and their usual black shrink wrap.

Was easy to get out of the box, and fader protector in place. No signs of damage. AAAs in, power on. The power switch is indeed too stiff and protrudes too much, needs a rethink.

Speaker works fine, fader seems fine too. Am loving the design and the feel, it’s a real statement piece. So much more tactile and vibey than, say, the sp404mk2 which has those dead pads and very little mojo. I applaud the te team for nailing a particular aesthetic and approach.

So hopefully they will have minimal QC issues going forward, and I look forward to diving deeper into this unit.

ā€œmy Y knob has a loose contactā€ :sob:

I stupidly caused my own fadergate by smashing my K.O. II into a glass table. :see_no_evil:
The fader was torn off due to the fall and the Y knob was slightly bent. I have already replaced the fader, wich works wonderfully again. The Y knob I simply bent straight again. However, the Y knob now repeatedly misfires/has loose contact.

Does anyone have an idea wich rotary potentiometer I could use to replace it

I think that ifixit article mentioned spare parts and a teardown?
