Teenage Engineering EP-133 K.O. II

I feel bad for the distributors who are being blamed by TE for their transit of it. I used juno and they have always been great with next day delivery, money off and returns if needed. Feel bad they are dealing with an issue that is obviously because of TE and not them.

A bit gutted. Fader seems fine but the speaker is a mess. Now I’m trying to figure out if I’d ever actually just use the speaker, but of course the option would be nice. Guess it’s going back. I should not have ordered this from across the pond.

Do retailers handle return shipping in situations like this? Guess I’m about to find out. Oy vey.

Have you tried removing the cable in the line input. When you remove the cable it auto switches to mic recording.

Yeah no cable in it at all. Tried to do various combos of cable in/out/switching inputs/usb powered/speaker only.

Still no dice

Depends on the retailer, but in my experience almost every company will accept a return of a defective item.

Damn, maybe check into trying the speaker fix? But I’m in the same boat as you, not completely bricked but not working as advertised (and paid for) and I don’t want to start voiding my warranty to fix their problem only to have it bite me in the ass when another issue arises.

I feel like I’m receiving a really good lesson in my personal struggles with GAS. Will the lesson stick? Hoo boy…

I’m nervous about mine. It arrives on Friday. Most of the issues look fixable, but I don’t know if I want to deal with the process of opening and repairing problems.

Even if it’s 100 in this thread (it isn’t even close), multiplied even by 2 or 3 in the wild, the exponential amount due to shipping damage, or user assembly excluded, the remaining amount would still be under an acceptable coefficient to qualify in the territory of manufacturing failure to contract fulfillment expectations.

But this is a boutique manufacturer, where a niche website unrelated to the brand which 99.9% of buyers would be unaware of, have put a microscope of ā€˜how dare they release this flimsy garbage’. The echo chamber of confirmation bias here is always going to be a magnified spotlight, and the issue of failure is always real. However, exaggerating issues of fader, encoder or speaker problems into a gate of quality conspiracy doesn’t help anyone.

Let’s just all be glad the issues aren’t on the main board smcs.

The product team is going to have an incredible round of applause, while the management team should frame their risk management numbers as a solid goal achieved.

While all of that may be true, it’s also true that I’ve personally never seen this many defects for a single piece of new gear before in a single thread.

The highest traffic thread, the fastest selling product, the greatest user reporting of a product. Just enjoy the ride. Poisoning the well doesn’t help anyone.

Poisoning the well? How?

Is it the ā€œfastestā€ selling product?
Is it the ā€œgreatestā€ user reporting of a product?

When the unit works (mine is perfect), it feels very solid and nice to use. Very happy with the quality.

Also, the box might be prone to transit damage but it is also the prettiest music gear box I have seen.

I got the same email.

Decksaver is going to make a mint if they make one for the KO2. They are going to cash in on FOFF (Fear of Fader Failure).

Hell, I would be the first one to purchase. Take my fear money Decksaver, you do good work.

would also be quick to purchase.
Well worth the $ for tabletop protection, plus freedom to think/worry less about the case choice.

Decksaver is a no brainer for this one
I requested one here: https://www.decksaver.com/support/contact-us/
