After talking to TE about my broken speaker, they told me to contact the retailer I ordered from. I did so, and they said they would get back to me in 24-48 hours. Well it’s been over 48 hours now and still nothing. Makes me wonder if something bigger is going on around this with TE since things have been so silent.
Ya, it’s called collectors edition, they’re collecting complaints.
Meanwhile, I can’t wait for mine.
I think this may be the part, haven’t confirmed.
but the site seems good for finding specific parts.
can order as few as 1, though it’s not much more to just order a few, looks like it would be $6 shipped to me (USA to USA). So that seems like the lowest cost of entry so far.
That said, If I could find an affordable set that had them, I wouldn’t be opposed to getting other potentially useful pieces. I just think that fader looks really great and would probably travel better than the supplied knob.
I kind of clicked through the video but it seems that he just made sure the internal screws were tight but not too tight so that the pads make better contact, kind of blows my mind that TE just went for a contact based solution for both power and the speaker seems like it is asking for this sort of stuff to happen on a portable bit of kit.
Received mine from Rubadub in the UK yesterday, as part of their first batch (ordered very soon after it was announced). The packaging was fairly minimal and I was fearing the worst as I unpacked it, but thankfully no damage. All seems to be working so far!
Sorry to hear about peeps having issues with some units and hope those can be resolved in some way.
here’s a set Lego Peg and Joiner Set
and a cheaper non-lego option skyview peg and joiner set
i grabbed a couple parts from aliexpress that looked close enough/interesting for decoration.
I’m thinking of adding a tilted deck above (not over) the screen to hold the OPZ and hide a thin external battery (battery/speaker area). Angled bricks, plates n all that jazz. Any suggested smaller kits that have enough pieces to accomplish this goal?
no clue, sorry!
Not a lego dude, just want that fader haha
though, that sounds really interesting and I’m also interested in fabricating up a lego stand for this thing for when it’s on my desk, just to get a bit of an angle going for ergonomics.
You are now
Could be difficult, because there isn’t enough information on older posts (I don’t think one can get precise timing, just month/year). The Syntakt trademark speculation thread hit 4K, not in two weeks I think, but on the basis of essentially no information at all. There was certainly a burst of posts once the Syntakt was announced, but it wasn’t confined to a single thread.
100 in this thread, how many more out there we didn’t hear about? This is clearly far above a normal failure rate. I bet the actual product manager is sweating right now.
alright, for the ridiculous amount of $6.94
I got like 8 of those potential fader caps (part # 62462), each with two ‘end caps’ each (Lego calls these Plate, Round: part # 4073)
I hope these are the correct pieces, but after looking through it seems like there really isn’t anything like it, so I suspect this will work. For less than $1 each I can get a mix-mash of color options, and could even give some away to friends. not bad! will update if they work.
TE on the phone with the manufacturer: ‚Why are so many units faulty?‘
Manufacturer: ,We have just send you the faulty units yet. For analysis. The working batch will be send soon. Why do you ask?‘
Somebody made a 3d printable thingy to protect the fader, when you put on the cap
The biggest issue I see is with TE’s package design. It is too flimsy for the product. The KO2 has a little heft to it, and not enough protection in their packaging, especially on top of the unit where the knbos and faders are making contact with the top of the box. A deeper package that allowed for a dense foam overlay piece on top that protected the knobs/fader would probably have mitigated a lot of issues. When you couple flimsy packaging with the way TE and other retailers were just tossing it in a box with a few pieces of tissue paper, it is a recipe for disaster.
As far as failure rate, we would have to know how many units were shipped, and how many were faulty. If TE shipped 300, and 100 of them were DOA, then that is a big issue. If TE shipped 3,000, and 100 of them were DOA, that is still an issue, but not as big. Due to the price point, and TE had seemingly stocked up, and also sent stock out to a lot of retailers, it seems like there are a lot in the wild, which means that a theoretical 3% failure rate is going to get a lot of comments about it on the internet.
Just received mine from Rubadub and I’m anxious…one of the corners is so smashed in that it’s round. Will document all before opening.
I feel like Willy Wonka opening up his candy bar hoping to find a golden ticket inside.
Stop it! I’ve still 4 days to wait for mine. You’re not helping!
Good luck! I couldn’t believe how flimsy the packaging was…
Was really hoping to not run into issues…but within 1 hour I did.
The internal mic seemed to have died. I got 2 samples out of it. Can’t switch input anymore just line in L C R only.
Tried to factory reset in hope it was a software glitch. It wasn’t.
Also factory reset removes everything. Including the TE preload sounds which is just dumb.
Thank goodness Decima1 did a backup of the sounds, but pretty absurd even TE’s online tool gives no option to reload those.
So I’m not to happy. And TE’s silence is pretty deafening right now. No word back from support either.
