Teaser: Roland Aira Modular!

Start Patching for MuzikMesse 2015

Interesting. I still want a proper MX.

Well I was always afraid of going modular, but Im sure I wont be able to resist this one. Well probably makes lots of fun together with my elektrons. Can´t wait for the Messe

Looks like a System-1 minus a keyboard and adding some patch points. Interesting. I’ve been tempted by the System-1 - some of the guys on Gearslutz gush over it - but couldn’t see past that keyboard. To have this plus some modular options is very interesting. Wonder what sort of price range they will land at.

I would LOVE to see elektron enter the euro fray. Single rytm voices, a decent sampler, nice filter - theyd be my #1 GAS machines.

Ooo and the elektron sequencer of course

Bastl Instruments recent modules are probably as close as you can get. The demo they recently made public sounded amazing.

Yeah indeed - love the oak finish too! Got my eye on their sampler for sure.

if you want an elektron style sequencer in eurorack format check out the audio damage seq 1. no plocks though.

Regarding the AIRA modular stuff- as long as it isn’t made of plastic I’ll give it a chance.

If elektron made a single voice of the A4 available as a module I would drop significant money on such a thing

Meh.

If it’s VA, I’ll keep my Nord G2.

I wish Elektron would make an OverBridge module…
(I am kidding :imp: )

^
it will be a VA - can’t see why it won’t be…but with patch points to the outside (analogue) world I’m guessing.

Personally ( & I dont own any Aira stuff in fact ) I think, though haters are always going to hate it seems, Roland have done really well & got themselves firmly back in the game in the last year or so.
Was listening to the SH-2 plug-out for the System 1 recently : yeah, so it’s modelled…but frankly so what - it sounds bloody fantastic. Various people have tried & failed on both the TR-8 vs 808/909 blind tests… & the SH101 vs System 1 /101 plug-out blind test too.

I think we’re really just into the realms of hater / fanboy behaviour here if one doesn’t just say, well done Roland, you’ve got some useful instruments back out there on the market right now. Keep em coming : you might bring out something I buy eventually :joy:

I got the TB-3 for $250 on sale at Guitar Center
Aside from a great 303 sound, the 32 step sequencer is quite good with the latest firmware.
A couple of randomization features in that last update really put it over the top.

The System keyboard is cool but I don’t understand making a keyboard in 2015 without velocity. I get that it is a throwback emulation. Cool, the Sh-101 didn’t have velocity, makes sense. So make it no velocity while using the sh-101 emulation, and give us velocity for using it with other synths. I would have bought it otherwise.

TR-8 is brilliant. I hope they add TR-606 sound bank next.
The only thing that kept me from getting one was the physical size. Won’t fit in my case (one of many reasons why I love Elektron gear).
But what a value if you’ve got room for it.

Excited to see this new modular gear, though I have vowed not to dive into modular.

My guess is the small modulars are also plug-out where you can cycle through different modules and the controls change with it. This way you can have a few modules and gets lots of configurations. And USB audio and sync on the back btw them all.

elektron modular yes (well worrysome for the os development of our legacy machines)

module with

overbridge (chainable)
p-locking
mini step-seq per module, chainable for usual 16/32/64 patterns with pingpong, reverse, loop etc…
snapshots of mute groups if polyphonic.
