TC Ditto X4 MIDI sync'd looper

TC finally listens and gives us an affordable ($249) stereo looper with MIDI sync.
Let’s hope the Rec/Start/Stop commands are quantized or else Pigtronix Infinity will continue to stand alone.

The tape and fade FX look great on it.

Yep, seems nice. I got bored of waiting for a decent 2 track midi synced looper at this price and recently got the KMI 12 step and just run it with Ableton and several loopers .

I hit up TC on Twitter with the quantize question.
I’ll update when I hear more.

I do appreciate the master volume and undo (via remote) on the Pigtronix, though.
But the Ditto x4 has its own unique features I would be keen to try out.
Also curious about dimensions. Looks less thick for one.

Interested. Had the Lexicon JamMan since launch (looping long before that), so it’s been odd to witness the absence of midi sync on most since (it has stereo i/o summed to mono). But i could not watch another minute (i got half way) of that guitarist. I was hoping the Tape FX was gonna degrade and saturate the loops, ah. Maybe the search continues, shame the OT doesn’t quite offer the looping experience i hoped it might. Will check out some other demos of this one if the atreet price is good. So much for not getting a bit of NAMM gas then

Nice!

But I dont think its gonna replace EHX2880 looper…

Shame it doesn’t punt out clock, that seems like a cure for gas to me unless you play to a clock as a norm. It would have been a nice option unless that Thru could be switched. There’s always one little thing .
There’s plenty of pricey stuff out there and plenty with interesting usps - just not found ‘the one’ yet. Stereo/Layers(synced/unsynced)/Midi/decay/tape-analog/half-double-spd/kitchen-sync… Pointers welcome

Never had the desire for my Infinity Looper to spit out clock, as my Rytm is master, sending thru to A4, Infinity, and Echolution Deluxe.

A little update, no word from TC on the quantize and still no manual for the x4 on their website. But it is now shipping from Sweetwater, and in their marketing info this hints towards proper quantize: “MIDI sync lets you start/stop recording and switch loops in perfect time with a backing track or tempo map for seamless transitions.”

Also, no dimensions posted yet but if this uses the same chassis as the Flashback X4, it has a larger 5.7" x 9.25" foot print than the Infinity’s 4.6" x 7.4", so I’m probably not going to seek this out in place of my Infinity as there isn’t enough room left in my road case.

$249 looks great for a midi sync/quantize stereo looper with a couple bells and whistles, if you don’t mind the large foot print.

Could be good upgrade here if it receives OT clock/tranport. Sucks that my rc300 won’t receive midi clock. Massive fail.

It does.

It does.[/quote]
 still kinda baffled the rc300 can’t handle clock in  Great looper but really frustrating that I can’t send OT clock/transport to it…

Most loopers are missing a feature or two when it comes to their MIDI implementation, sadly.

There wasn’t really a choice outside of the Infinity Looper or EHX 45000 before the Ditto x4.

Ugh. I didn’t notice it doesn’t have much in way of memory or banks/patches. Which kinda screws it for me  Sometimes I wonder if all the companies out there meet annually in a Swiss mountain castle and plan out which features each product is gonna miss out so as to enable us to have permanent gas and not enough space in out homes/pedal boards

Adam - any updates on this one?

Yea, TC finally uploaded their manual online.
No quantize mentioned, and any mention of the MIDI sync function is shrouded in marketing speak.

Someone is going to have to bite the bullet and actually buy/rent/use one and report back. Or TC could just respond to the specific questions I have already asked them.

Not at all a confidence inspiring company.

One thing I did learn from the manual as that the undo/redo functions are button hold functions, not instant functions, and are therefore on a 1.5 second delay. Meh.

Ah, ok.

I really want a simple midi-synced looper that can sit at the end of my stereo signal chain, and just have one knob to fade in/out of the loop.

I’ve used a second OT for this before, as it works so well, but it was overkill and i had to sell it again.

My Eventide Timeline can do this… but it’s mono :frowning:

Hopefully this’ll be the one, eventually!

any word on if the ditto x4 syncs to midi correctly?

looking for a cheap/bare bones looper with midi sync and this fits the bill until you read people’s experience with it when it comes to midi sync. there was a recent firmware that was supposed to resolve those issues but sounds as if it caused more issues than it resolved.

bump! Any owners have thoughts on this pedal? Thinking about going this way instead of hassling with the gain issues of the OT when live sampling. It’s still pretty affordable, cheaper than getting a good enough midi pedal to control OT recordings!

I noticed beardymans new setup used boss 505 looper , as his main setup is looper based ( and a lot of bespoke fx , controllers) maybe it’s worth looking at too , although it’s twice the cost new.
