Hi everyone,
I’m looking to upgrade my dawless recorder setup and currently use a Zoom H2n to capture my DTII jams.
I’m highly interested in the Tascam Portacapture X6 primarily because of the 32-bit float recording which would be a huge step up.
However, a key part of my decision is the ability to create a finalized stereo file directly on the device, without relying on a full DAW session.
For those of you who use the Portacapture X6/X8 for music recording, how do the processing effects (EQ, Compressor/Limiter, Reverb) perform when you do a final stereo mixdown on the unit?
Do you think the jump to the Portacapture worth it, not just for the superior recording quality, but specifically for the ability to finalize tracks on the device using the internal mixer and effects?
I know that the resulting audio quality won’t be comparable to a dedicated mix/mastering session, but I simply don’t have the time or energy for that, and I’m just looking to maximize my recordings quality before sharing to the few people who are interested in my music.
Thanks !!
