DN has performance macros for mod wheel, aftertouch, breath controller and pitch bend. It’s easily accessible in the setup menu (one button press). You can hook up any keyboard or MIDI controller (or another Elektron) to it and move these parameters. It’s awesome and makes the extra buttons on DNK not the big selling point to me they seem at first glance.
I just bought one and you should too.
Nobody talked me out of it because i didn’t ask them to.
I’m living large. Fuck everything. DigitoneKeys2024.
Second hand Digitone Keys 2025 <3
Take note of this mad wisdom. The DT keys is not for “everyone”. Find out if you are “someone”.
Digitone keys och analog keys är som elektrons två udda sladdbarn (no pun intended)
Never parting with mine. Absolutely love it.
Digitone Keys, ”DK” or DNK?
I’m not an authority on the subject. You decide.
Both are unambiguous except in a discussion that involves several EU countries. And I tend not to police uses of “DT” to refer to Digitone except where it might be ambiguous, which it clearly is not in this case. (I do wish Tonverk were “TK” but there was never any hope of that.)
As a AK user the naming AK/A4 feels short and easy.
Analog keys = AK
I Analog four = A4
Digitakt = DT => Digitone = DN => Digitone Keys = DNK
Digitakt keys = DTK
Toneverk keys = TVK

I’ll take one, thanks!
DNK is nice ![]()
DNK in 2026…!?!
They were rare to see used, but now that the DN2, I think some of the glamour has worn away.
There is one nearby for a pretty decent price (750 CAD).
Wondering if its worth grabbing.
For a little less than double, I can get a DN2 and play it with my MIDI controller.
But…there’s the novelty of that form factor!
I kept my DNK when I got my DN2, but my other MIDI keyboards are much smaller. At the time, my second-hand DNK purchase was an incredible bargain. I had been contemplating a Keystep Pro, and this was better, plus a DN, for about $200 more. (Your price is even better, but mine was a while ago.)
One thing to consider is that the knobs above the keyboard on the DNK can be reassigned, and the OG DN is still amazing (that engine has not changed in DN2), even if the other additions to DN2 made it worthwhile for me and many others. But if you are happy with your MIDI controller and it is also 3 octaves or more, then you might go for the DN2 instead. The DNK form factor is not optimal as far as I’m concerned.
[Edit: oh, yes, the DNK has individual track outputs. I do not use this at all, but for some people, it is critical.]
Thanks for this info.
Right now I use the Arturia Keylab Essential 61. I like everything about it, except that it does not have MIDI clock-related functionality, which also means it can’t do arps or send them.
If the DNK sends arp, man I will really have to consider it because I have also thought about the KSP for that functionality.
I don’t think it sends arp. I don’t think any Elektron does, except Octatrack on MIDI, and A4 on CV.
Yes it doesn’t.
No midi arp on DNK, which is nothing less than a fucking travesty.
I still whole heartedly recommend getting one.
I love the form factor! I like that it’s not “deep” in length (width?) as I can get all my stuff behind it on my desk. I use mine in conjunction with an Octatrack, so I send midi arp from OT and play the keys on DNK and Voila!!
Do it…. DO IT!!!
That would be depth!
Thanks for your take
