The keybed is channel aftertouch, not poly. Sounds great though!
@operon going āFuck, my Take 5 doesnāt have Poly AT, what did I doā for a second .
Hope you enjoy your Take 5!
Great vid, sounds incredible
any previous take-5 owners who bought the teo-5 have any opinions at this stage? we have a lot more analog poly options now, but i still go back to my old ig posts from when i had the take-5 and those are always my favorite ones. everything that machine does just sounds so massive and beautiful to me. it has such an interesting character. very alive
but the teo-5 seems like a no brainer. tzfm in a poly synth is what ive always wanted, and especially inside something with the modulation power of the take-5. I think id prefer the svf, but i did really like the take-5 filter. I tend to use bp more than lpf or hpf, so i think iād like the flexibility offered by a svf. one concern i would have is that it doesnt have the morphing vco shapes of the take-5 which was one of the most powerful sound design functions, combined with the fm and oscillator sync, you could get the crazies textures and still keep it musically in tune if you used the mod matrix for linear fm
iād be curious to know whether or not the teo-5 is as satisfying in terms of deep sound design from someone who tends to spend a lot of time pushing these analog polysynths to their limits in the mod matrix. because fm did seem like kind of a workaround, but it was also very malleable in that you could audio rate modulate almost anything with the osc2 as mod source in the matrix. does the teo-5 have the same sources and destinations (filter out, dc, osc2 source, etc)?
they both sound great. i assume the teo is worth a shot, but i know i love the take-5. tough decision
Donāt wanna be the guy who answers āshould I get A or Bā with āget Cā, but here we go: you should take a look at Dreadbox Artemis if you want an analog poly with through zero FM and variable waveforms with in between states and two resonant filters (HP + LP).
Thatās my plan.
Replacing Take 5 with Artemis?
Thatās the plan.
I have both. Both from the beginning when they came out, which means I had the Take 5 for about 3 years before the Teo-5 came out. The Take 5 was my main (and only) synth for those three years, replacing a Rev2 I had for about 5 years (which replaced a P08, etcā¦). Although I always loved the Take 5, it has been gathering dust since the Teo-5 arrived. I will sell it eventually, although I will miss some of the patches I made that were really nice. The Teo-5 is perfect for me. Perfect balance between beautiful and powerful sound, between characterful and controlled. Itās exactly the sound Iāve been looking for for years (and which I couldnāt find on the Rev2 or Take5, the P08 was closerā¦). So thatās my 2 cents. But this matter is highly subjective, you really have to get to know both synths in person, program some patches and see how you connect with the sound. The user interface of both synths is almost identical (and for me one of the best interfaces Iāve ever come across).
If I had to put it into words, I find the Take 5 to be a bit more raw and āplasticā, while the Teo-5 is more textured, nuanced, and refined (however, on a subtle level). Both synths can sound very similar at times though.
Iām probably confusing you more than anything
This is actually a great idea. I had considered it, but I hate that interface. Better than the nymphes though. I just doubt the mod matrix is as capable, I could be totally wrong but everything about the t5 sort of just felt right to me so I know I like that format
It does sound incredible though in that Andertons demo. I keep forgetting it has Tzfm as well. I wonder if the filters on the Dreadbox compare to the teo 5 filter. I did like the Medusa a lot, but it was one of my very first synths so itās hard to say whether or not I would like that interface now
Not at all, this actually sealed the deal for me. I feel like we value similar things here, and the way you describe it pretty much answers my questions
Thank you, I appreciate that response
