What a lovely synth, can it do weird Surgeon sounds?

If you want the sound of a scalpel scratching over a concrete surface, Blast Beats is better :stuck_out_tongue:

I was looking for a synth that could give a sound like Luminosity Device without going Eurorack and I suddenly found this beauty.

i guess everybody will hate on me for this comment, but i skipped through that record and didn’t hear anything that’s not possible on just a Syntakt :woman_shrugging:

Do you think? You seem to get very different sound but I don’t know, I feel it wants to go to it’s Elektron sound.

Anyway this could be off topic here.

On-Topic: That’s just a matter of attitude towards a synth … I don’t give a f what a device wants or what it wants to sound like. (The init sounds represent everything to avoid  )

...

Off-Topic: Something that’s a bit like some of the sounds on the album: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fNiYEICazs8&list=PL-MKoQp4lob1fUD5DAyDqKQuutxNeZsZI&index=6

For me it’s the same, but I can’t decide if I should get a Perkons 1st or the Syntrx II

That definitely looks nice too!

I like retro looks, I like black devices/instruments qith lots of knobs and controls, I love that VU meter and the led display in Syntrx II. And obviously it sounds amazing in the videos. All I need is money now…

I picked up a Syntrx II after much debate about whether I should get an MK1 or Mk2 and I’m having a blast so far. It sounds really, really good and I’m loving the patch matrix. I’m sure the MK1 has it’s charms but I have no regrets.

Questions for Syntrx users - is anyone using a limiter or compressor on the outputs? This thing can get incredibly loud, especially when doing feedback patching. I was considering picking up a RNC or RNLA to pair with it but I wanted to see if anyone had any other suggestions. I’m using it in rehearsals for a theatre piece and I don’t want to blow out the PA or any of the performers’ eardrums while we’re rehearsing/creating.

unless you need a drum machine, the Syntrx is the clear choice.

I want to try this and the new Ample. On wish list. I could buy this and new Jomox Alphabase MK2 for less than full size Arp2600 with cash left over for the smaller arp2600

I used an OT as the finishing stage for my Mk1 Syntrx for a while, but I was using the compressor more to raise the level of quiet parts than to tame overall loudness. I also usually have enough going on farther down the gain stage chan that I can dedicate the master level knobs to overall loudness.

A VST multiband compressor might be very interesting with either Syntrx.

Not sure if people have already seen this but seems to have been recently updated with sound examples. Looks pretty good:

Returning (or finally really beginning) to use the Syntrx II. It’s so good…but man, the effects…not so much. I can get some lovely sounds when it’s set but it has a really strong digital quality that I can’t say I vibe with. Almost for sure going to have to use some outboard reverb pedal to supplement it. It’s great you can record it etc so shame to loose that functionality but I think I’ll have it dialed in to create an additional sound source and not rely on it for what it was presumably intended for.

Anyone else have thoughts about the FX? Maybe I’m just kneejerking it?
