Hey I would recommend just to skip to my playlist called ā€œdeluge boot camp seriesā€ if you want to zip through everything. It is a great instrument!

holy shit there is some juicy shit coming there.

Stereo unison and ableton style clip launcher.

And not in the firmware but coming:

Lock start end end loop points so you can scan through samples and a visual representation of automation values per step.

God damn this thing is getting powered up so hard lol.

This open source thing is working out pretty well for them and the community.
I’m hoping for a new model with more controls and better overview at some point.

I’m in awe at this machine because it’s doing so much that I’ve always wanted in a groovebox. Only owned it a week and I’m blown away by it and for its future.

Got my overlay with all the new shortcuts yesterday and even that is impressive as it’s a magnetic and not the usual sticky one.

Very happy

I recently picked up an OLED model having had the original.
The new screen makes it a different instrument. Just having clear constant visual feedback elevates it considerably, in my opinion.
The open source stuff is very exciting too, especially seeing how fast it’s moving.

The community firmware effort is truly amazing. There’s so much talent in the community, and it’s all being developed with the Deluge’s existing hardware ethos in mind.

A couple of highlights:

  • The ā€˜16 levels’ style drum kit keyboard which can be scaled to different numbers of pads per kit row.
  • The new clip automation view, which is frankly a marvel! So easy and brilliant to use, taking full advantage of the grid.

I haven’t dug into the new clip launcher view much, but it seems very useful and I gather that it’s going to be further refined to make it more readable after community feedback. Looking forward to seeing the Grain FX make it into the full nightly build, as I was playing around with it last night and it was big fun.

Anyone else checking out all the new stuff? There’s so much more than I’ve listed here.

How are you finding and installing the open source features? Are you just using the unofficial ā€˜roundup’ stuff? Do they stack on top of each other or are do you need to combine them somehow? I’ve been out of the studio for a while and am out of the loop with installing open source firmwares

Tbh I find Github to be a real pain to navigate, so I usually rely on a useful link placed in the Discord to get the files. But there is set to be a proper navigation page to help the process which I think is launching very soon, possibly even today.

As for what’s included, well all the little bits of stuff tend to be released separately by each developer, but then consolidated into the overall community nightly build a few days later. So at the moment, everything developed so far is included aside from the Grain FX… but that will be included in a build soon.

I’m not sure if the timetable is still 100% on plan, but there is supposed to be a proper community beta launching today (hence the landing page popping up soon). I presume this build will include the Grain FX too, and it’s supposed to represent a ā€˜locked’ point to be tested by everyone for a couple of months before the official first community firmware release.

The latest nightly build is always here: https://github.com/SynthstromAudible/DelugeFirmware/releases/download/nightly/deluge-nightly.zip

But if you wait until the end of today, hopefully the beta for everyone to test will be up along with its convenient page.

From that nightly build (2023_08_21-d85788f), it seems that the 7seg and OLED firmware has been unified! :open_mouth:

And that build includes Grain FX!

Oh cool, I hadn’t seen the update.

Here is the new landing page for the nightly builds… no mention of the ā€˜locked’ beta firmware yet, so I’m not sure if that will also appear on the page when released: Deluge Community Firmware

OMG, Holy smokes Batman!
Wow. Great job guys!

Fill Mode! Ive been waiting excitedly for that one.

So many great new features, and so fast, I can’t learn them all, ha.

I think I heard about someone porting Dexed to the deluge, I hope that becomes available soon, too.

I said this before, but what a great time to be a Deluge owner!

did you get the screen mod?

Whoa this is awesome! I think I will hold off on videos until it is ā€œpublic releaseā€ but I will plan to make detailed content in line with my other stuff when it’s ā€œdoneā€!

Someone is porting that (or something similar) but it doesn’t appear to be merging with the main community firmware as of yet.
