Synths under the bed or in drawers and cupboards with pictures

just ruminating on people who keep their synths hidden away and maybe take it out again year later or months later or never or just hoard indefinitely or do that thing i do which is sell it all and buy it all back again over the years - probably has been said elsewhere but just wondering out loud about stuff and this forum feels like a safe space for that - i’ll start with a pic of my under bed synth hoard…

EDIT sfx6/otmk2/norand mono gone in trade for guitar now only drumatix and x911 left under the bed but possible sh101 incoming…which will go under the bed

Under the bed. A Monomachine…an OT MK2. I’m speechless. I’d live in constant fear of the frame cracking and also you can’t really jump around on your bed. Some people are literally insane while they pretend everything is fine with their Monomachine tucked away. At least give it a blanket…poor dusty thing.

I’ve definitely been known to sell gear and then a few months later rebuy when I decide I missed it more than I realized. 3 Octatracks, 2 OP-XYs, 2 OP-Zs, 2 OP-1’s, 2 Circuits.

I’d sell that stuff but then my bed would probably tip over.

i’m between spaces at the moment - hopefully it will all be on a desk at some point this year but if not it will remain under the bed or be sold off

Dedicated cupboard in my bedroom for my gear. Not on the attic, enough room but gets too warm in summer. I’m a gear pamperer, but that’s a habit developed from having to save very long and hard for stuff all my life, also from former experience storing stuff in sun-blazed containers (discoloration of plastic from the consistent high temperature)…I don’t take things for granted, and hope to have it as long as possible, in a next-to-new condition. I even put a dust strip on the cupboard doors to keep dust from crawling in, and chose solid doors to keep sunlight away. I’m just weird like that. Same with my motorcyles actually…I use them, but before putting them back in storage they’re cleaned to a level where every atom not stamped with the manufacturers logo has to be removed

pic please - come show us your under the bed synths

If you’re not living in a humid climate, I’m sure your gear will be ok. Might get a little dusty maybe…I still couldn’t sleep well with an MM tucked under my bed.

Korg MS-20FS in a box holding up some junk.

Juno-106 hiding under a blanket in the corner of my office.

Mostly this stuff is waiting for me to buy more rails and arms for the Jaspers frame. I just started a new job after 11weeks unemployemnt, so in a paycheck or two’s time I’ll buy the frame accessories and set more gear up.

The Moog case is empty ‘cos the Matriarch is out on the Jaspers frame. The case from Analog Cases is empty. It was originally for a Rev2 but now holds my drone rig, but that’s out. There’s also a Junost-21 in the brown case on the floor, holding up my (disassembled) drone rig.

I don’t have enough space on the Jaspers to put everything out, so the Junost-21 will probably stay in its case until I need it. It’s sort of shit but also sort of characterful, so I gotta be in the mood for it.

Thats been stashed up there since I got the Malevolent. Will sell the Moog.

This lives here. Stays in its box unless I’m actually playing it. Which isnt often to be honest. Ive had it a long time, its a very early one.

This has been put in a corner and forgotten about for years. Fucking thing needs a new home. Someone come and get it. Free.

How’s your back?

:joy::joy: i sit on the floor to play the Syntrx. It’s ok. The hardest part for me is reading the labels on the matrix, because my eyesight sucks. Once I’ve bought more Jaspers rails & arms, I’ll be able to make a more ergonomic layout.

I think it’s cool to have some gear in the closet / on the shelf, just to have something to rotate the setup or just try something else. I have offloaded most of it though, as it mostly ends up sitting unused. A shelf of pedals is mostly what’s left of the peripheral stuff.

Oh and take good care of your SFX-6! This is what happened to mine a few years ago… The wind took hold of an open window, and tipped the iMac forward from the highest point of the console. On its way down the iMac slid over the SFX and cut its joystick in half. The iMac continued its ride down to the seat of chair, and ended up lying with screen facing downward into the seat of the chair. Not a scratch anywhere, just a broken joystick…

thanks for this - now i’m wondering what would happen if you chained all those effects together and put your dr110 through it
in terms of the sfx6 - it will get a spot on the table once there is a table, at least that is my intention
beautiful setup btw
