Synth stores in Berlin

What are essential synth stores to visit in Berlin?

I think everyone knows SchneidersLaden. It’s a cult classic.

JustMusic it’s so cool, too

…essential?..well, there u got it already…just music and schneiders laden…
one covers all the modular nerdy stuff…the other all the rest…
the list got short…lately.

Most small shops are gone for years now. We get to thank the big players and those who always go for the cheapest option. It’s gonna bite them all in the butt at some point. Too bad the rest had to suffer because of it. But if you’re in Berlin definitely support SchneidersLaden when you can. :+1:

I totally share your point of view. I always try my best to support small shops; not only for synths, but also for books, movies, vinyl records, toys…
Schneidersladen in Germany, AudioSource/HouseOfSound in Switzerland, ModularSquare in France, Turnlab in Belgium…

At Schneidersladen you’ll get boxes that you barely can find elsewhere.
I ordered from them to austria, they have an onlineshop too. All went well, just like from the big players.

I think, that a Moog headquarter is here in Berlin since last year (but I don´t know, when it´s open).

  • Schneidersladen: You can try a wall of Eurorack modules
  • Just Music: In the synth section you can test flagships like the Moog One, Prophet 5, Waldorf Quantum, etc.
  • Patch Point: Focused in 4U/banana cable instruments

Ebay Kleinanzeigen

I buy only local, in Berlin the spectrum of gear to be had is phenomenal and 9/10 times I meet really nice people that I even end up hanging out with.

That’s fun. I should keep that in mind next time Im in Berlin.

Are people on it willing to ship to EU?

Frequently they are. You just gotta watch out for scammers, some of the schemes are quite elaborate actually. Usually choosing a secure form of payment that will allow you to recover any payment made (or is insured) should offset that risk though.

I bought a Vermona Mono Lancet 15 two days ago, the guy who sold it to me was super nice and we ended up smoking one together, talking about life, politics and such while listening to a few of his tracks

What is more, often good deals can be found. There are those that are unreasonable of course, but most of the time people are fair and sometimes they are even straight up kind with their asking prices.

I’d say it’s worth having a look on it from time to time if you’re in Europe.

Yeah, SchneidersLaden is amazing. Really fast shipping to Sweden for example if you are not in Berlin. And they handle warranty of their products very well.

I can also testify that they are excellently helpful with any problems - I only ordered some DIY modular rack rails + ears and they helped sort out an annoying UPS problem (“your address does not exist - we cannot find it”; yes it does…) with speed and amusing efficiency.

Yeah, I always check SchneidersLaden first when I need something and then the big players like Thomann. Actually their delivery is ofter even cheaper than Thomann’s. I once even went on a weekend bus trip to Berlin so I could visit this famous store

I will definitely make a visit in the near future and hide till they lock the store so I can be in the store and play with all their toys for a whole night, or not :grinning:

I bought two Moog Minifooger pedals for 220 euros shipped to Denmark on eBay Kleinanziegen. Some don’t bother shipping, but definitely worth a try

Just a heads up for Australian purchasers from Schneidersladen … for items over 1,000 Euro they have a full 5-day process to obtain some sort of duty forms from the government, and then once they ship (for 52 Euro) their ‘DHL International’ is simply airmail and the shipping takes like 3-4 weeks. In this world of ultra-fast 3-4 day shipping to Australia from the likes of Perfect Circuit, Signal Sounds, Juno etc, Schneiders is not among them.
