Syntakt VST quality issues in Max

I’ve got a syntakt connected to my mac via usb. When I load the VST into ableton, it sounds exactly how I’d expect. When I load the VST into Max and point the outputs toward as a live.gain! that goes into an ezdac~, however, it sounds grainy and garbled. I can also open the syntakt app on my mac, and it will sound exactly like the VST does in ableton.

Has anybody made the elektron VSTs work in Max? Is there a way to get per-track audio?

Well, I figured this out within minutes of posting this. Isn’t it funny how that happens? Posting the answer here for others.

I needed to actually reduce the I/O vector size from the default 512 to 256. No idea why that worked, but that’s the opposite of what I figured from the semi-relevant advice I found online.

Still not sure how to do per-track audio, but I’ll get there. Happy to take any tips if people have them.

I’ll take a look and see if I can figure out the routing. Lowering the buffer is a surprising fix!

Maybe try mc.vst~if you haven’t yet?

mc.vst did it! I no longer have a way of controlling the vst parameters like I do if I just use vst~, but perhaps I can work around that (or load both).

I’m still trying to get it to do the same for the Digitakt II, but I’m learning a lot about Max in the process. Thanks!

ok, I think I figured out the digitakt issue. I send ‘plug “Digitakt II”’ as a message, and it was able to recognize the whole name.

Thanks for the help! This is going to be very powerful once I figure out Max basics (and very fun while I figure them out).
