Syntakt screen issues

was there any statement from elektron about it? is the screen itself a faulty part, or do they have to control it differently from the yellow one?

i wont buy another elektron product, until this is sorted out

Mine has just started doing this too!

happened to my digitakt 2 just today after 1 month of usage…

Sorry to read this. May I ask what’s the manufacture date on yours?

I bought it new in November 23.

Same problem here  It happened all of a sudden, then got ā€œnormalā€ again twice until it happened again and again and stayed like that. I just send it back to Thomann and hopefully, they’ll help me out. It’s a bit of a bummer because I really like the display and the animations.

Erm, well, my screen hasnt gotten too much worse, but definitely still has slight lines in it. If it gets worse Ill have to RMA… buuuuut… suddenly syntakt is freezing! Over and over. Its never frozen in the months Ive had it, standalone or in a DAW, but suddenly its freezing on average once an hour, requiring hard reset. Overbridge is unaffected. : /

Hi, just to let you know that the problem is also present on the Digitakt 2.

Aw man! Really frustrating, although I can’t fault how quickly Elektron got back to me to resolve the issue. My Syntakt is currently on it’s way back to be fixed. I expressed my concern for the other devices in my email to them. Hope it get sorted soon!

Mine suddenly started displaying issues as well after being on for a couple hours (screen saver engaged as well)

Pretty bummed about this…

With all the recent ST issues you think they might have had it sorted for the DT2 release…

unfortunately, it’s not possible to proactively check if the screen will become a problem after some use. so they can’t really get all the devices back from the shop and noodle with em for weeks until it might happen.

well, they could just change the screens on all devices… its a pretty darn shitty problem

EDIT
maybe they could have done a better job in not using faulty screens with the dt2, but I don’t know the timeline. I will definitely wait a little more until I get a dt2

I am pretty please with how the team at Elektron dealt with the issue of the screen on my Syntakt failing. The p recess was easy, they created a shipping label, I dropped it off and the device was back to me within two weeks. That was Scotland to Sweden, Syntakt repaired and back to me. Christian kept me informed the whole way through the process. Good work!
Hope my Digitakt 2 and AHFX displays hold up though.

sounds great! did they tell you some background info?

would be interesting to know, how they can make shure that your second screen wont fail again

i guess they knew about the syntakt screen problem before they put the same faulty screens in the dt2?

Yeah if that’s the case, it’s disappointing but they have assured me if there are any further issues to contact them for resolution. Can’t ask more than that I guess.

Incredible. Now it’s obvious this wasn’t just a ā€œbad batchā€. White screens seems to be ticking timebombs. Like if MKII’s decaying buttons weren’t enough… staying on DTOG+MC707 combo until this gets resolved, as much as I’d like to upgrade to DTII. But it’s sadly not a 100 bucks toy (and neither are Syntakt/AH+FX).

I’m not too upset about it and the picture makes it look much worse than it is. When working on it I don’t even notice so I’ll be using it like this until it gets worse or I’m ready for some time apart. More of an inconvenience than anything.

When you’re buying parts to build stuff like this you are often buying by the thousands. And especially if they knew that they were going to use the same screen on a lot of different devices, they’d be buying a bigger batch. It’s very unfortunate though and annoying from all sides of the counter. Parts supplier, manufacturer, Elektron, and us. The only ones winning here are the shippers. I’m sure they are doing their best to get through it.
