I don’t believe there’s any time limit my guys, don’t worry.
I’m certain that Nils is assertive enough to speak for himself if it should ever become an issue but please remember that the number one reason that battles, mission briefs and science labs cease to continue is a combination of lack of participation and host burnout. Usually, they are closely linked because the host has to start chasing down participants or participants keep wanting to up the stakes but where the responsibility all falls on the host.
I think it’s great that this has been working out so nicely and that you’ve all produced such nice results and had a lot of fun. It does in fact make me wish I had a Syntakt to participate.
I’m not saying that the above describes this situation but at the same time, finding ways to balance out the host responsibility or even a voluntary system of revolving host responsibilities will probably create an environment where this lab can continue beyond what the normal life responsibilities of one person will allow.
If you doubt this information and have not previously observed the status of other battles and mission briefs on this forum, it can be easily confirmed with minimal research and beyond the fact that I’d like to see Nils (and the rest of you) continue to enjoy this situation, I also think that it’s a good way to build a stronger community for the ST beyond everyone (including me) being impressed with Nils’ entries to that Syntakt sound thread.
Definitely impressed with the use of single machines to achieve surprising results and I apologize if this sounds like something you already know but sometimes the obvious needs to be restated and the person who does it may not be popular but I’m saying it none the less.
Please continue to achieve great results, it’s fun to hear and enjoyable to watch as I’m sure it’s also fun to participate.
Thank you also to Nils for your dedication to this, it’s been quite impressive beyond my initial expectations.

I wouldn’t worry about the spamming feel. Share and share more. It can suck though without the community, but keep it going if you’re up to it.
I’m hoping to sit down with ST for #3. The last couple of weeks have been a blur with summer stuff, but returning to normal soon (I think).
Moving across the county is a crazy thing. Moving in the same city is also crazy (and can’t imagine moving to another country), but it is definitely draining, because there’s some reassessment of possession on top of everything else. Good luck with that. I truly mean it and more importantly, I hope you can find that sense of “home” quickly in the new setting.
Could be soon the SSLs become a nice place to circle back to as an earned distraction, of course, when you’re ready.
@shigginpit thank you for your kind words, thoughts and for putting things into perspective. It’s much appreciated, as always!
After some initial pondering and clever feedback from you peeps, I think we’ve found a solid formula to the Syntakt Science Labs. This means I can start new labs and maintain existing ones with minimal efforts. If I ever get tired of this I’ll let you guys know and we might look into rotating the responsibility (good idea).
When it comes to participation, as already mentioned upthread I have no idea what to expect really. I’m happy we’ve come this far, and it feels like we have a good thing going. I’ll do my best to keep this alive, but it’s obvious it won’t last long if nobody is posting. I hope we won’t get there, but if it happens we’ll see. It’s obvious nobody will come along for every single one of the 30-odd remaining labs
Let’s just hope that enough people participate in each lab to make it feel worthwhile.
For those who haven’t had the opportunity to participate so far, I fully understand that life can get in the way. Nobody should feel sorry for not participating. If it’s not fun or you don’t have the time or energy, wait for better days. Also, as @PentalagusMusic pointed out none of these labs have a closing date, so it’s perfectly fine to revive previous SSLs if you have something you want to share. The train never leaves the station ![]()
@m0ld I’ve been following your challenges in other threads, much love from me and good luck with the move!
@mishpult I understand your sentiments but please think of it this way; the fact that we have a handful of “regulars” posting here is especially valuable when participation in general is low. Without the participation of you and a few others, this thing is going to die quickly. Not wanting to put any pressure on you ofc, just saying that your participation is much appreciated and the opposite of spamming ![]()
@Tchu Oh no! Hoping they can fix it quickly.
If your posts on the SSL threads were spam, sign me up for more of that stuff!
I’m sure things will pick up after the summer holidays… Especially if the rumoured “next update is for Syntakt” thing thrown around turns out to be true in the near future

I’m back to work and I immediately feel drained in the evening. Not feeling the beats today:)) little I knew, haha:)
It’l pass my dude. The first 2 weeks after the holidays are always the worst
Woooot
Maximum awesome ![]()
Hello peeps. We’ve gone all nitty gritty on the UT and Analog Cymbal machines for a while. It’s been fun! ![]()
What do you think? Is it time for a new SSL, or is the forum still in vacation mode?
Also, do you have any wishes for the next lab? Which machine should be the next candidate for our scrutiny?
I’d reckon you should still give it a week… people are just now starting to resume their grinds, and there are already 4 SSL’s for them to sink their teeth into? Well 3 but the first one is a two-part one…
Good point, will do. Thanks for the feedback.
I’m yet to tackle SSL #3 myself… soon… I did make one but it ended up a pattn which uses un-allowed machines as well so need to do another hehehe!
I’d agree with this
I have an idea, and I think it might be very interesting… what if, after some time, when we have gone through all the engines, we compile an Elektronauts SSL soundpack for the beloved Syntakt, full with interesting and weird sounds from everyone’s submissions.
Knowing that this is some kind of an end goal will add more interest and incentive for people to contribute and craft sounds etc.
Maybe even Elektron might agree to release it for future users with an artwork and everything!
Of course, please don’t spare me if you think it’s not a good idea:))
I love this idea.
I’ve been secretly hoping, since the beginning of this Syntakt Experiment Lab, that this proposal would surface…
but it will probably mean a lot of work to compile all this…
It would definitely be an incentive to start saving sounds.
I keep saving one or two in the beginning, but forget from there. And I have yet to try saving a sound from a Trig. That was one of big updates, and I still haven’t tried it.
Since selling off DT, I haven’t been in the habit of using p-locks with the sound pool, but it should be a perfect way to open things up with each of the SSLs.
I know I’d like to try Chord Machine. It has possibilities of being a cheat code, with lots of different things to consider when using it for everything.
