I have a Noise Issue with my Syntakt using it with Overbridge in Ableton.
Round about in the Frequency Section between 3k and 10k.
I want to record the analog Kick of the Syntakt via individual track (Track 9 - not the main out).
I set the gain in the mixer of the Syntakt down already. With that setting I do not hear any noise. But the gain is pretty low (peaks at round about -23 db in Ableton). So I insert a Utility in the channel increasing the gain so it peaks at around -6 db. But then I hear the Noise again pretty clearly.
Is this normal? Anybody with the same problem? How do you record the individual tracks of your Syntakt without Noise Issues?
First off, do you have latest OS on your Syntakt? Also, do you lave the latest version of OB2 installed? Secondly, are you connecting your Syntakt to your computer directly via an USB cable? Or are you using some sort of USB hub in between?
Next if you could save your pattern and export it via sysex, so others could load it and test this noise issue with their setups, just to see if it is reproducible. You can remove data from other tracks in the pattn if you dont want to be sharing the whole musical idea
EDIT: I noticed there’s already a thread for this issue… and seems like Elektron is aware of it and a fix is forthcoming… Personally, I’ve never noticed it, but this is probably becaouse I rarely use OB2 with my Syntakt. I do have noticed that some pattns exhibit significant increase in noise floor, but I’ve always thought it was because I was gainstaging things in a certain way (as we all know, adding overdrive and distortion to a signal also amplifies its bg noise levels, every guitarist knows this)
Actually, forget Overbridge. It’s simpler than this.
Switch to Audio/MIDI for USB out. Head to Settings >> Audio Routing. Assuming 15 tracks at lit up (all green), hit FX to switch it off (goes red), and the noise is gone.
I saw in other posts that the FX track is the noisy bastard - I can confirm.
There seems to be some software issue, where fx track’s internal mixer can get messed up, creating this unwanted noise. Might have something to do with unwanted digital signals creeping into the analogue circuits somehow… Many hybrid devices can exhibit such issues AFAIK (Rytm / A4 MKI’s, Roland JD-XA come to mind…)
