Really struggling to get the Overbridge engine to recognise my Syntakt - I haven’t connected for a while and may be missing something really simple. Can anyone else share a set-up like this so I can compare?
running Sequoia 15.7.3
Syntakt is in Overbridge mode?
I’m on Tahoe but can try it on that in a bit if you’re still having trouble
No problem getting this setup to work:
Syntakt 1.40, System/USB Config/Overbridge checkbox checked
Overbridge: 2.25.3
MacOS Tahoe 26.3.1
Mac: M1 Macbook Pro
Ableton: Live Suite 12.3.5
Working fine for me on lastest ST OS/Overbridge. I’m on latest version of Sequoia.
Thank you both for looking. Are you connecting with just USB or are you using an audio interface too?
Also, what order do you connect, turn on etc?
thanks
Check p.7 of the overbridge manual, it’s pretty straightforward. Main thing is to make sure Syntakt and Overbridge are both latest version, and since you’re troubleshooting make a direct usb connection to computer, not through a hub.
I haven’t actually found that the connection order makes a difference, but the manual suggests this order: connect usb cable, then power on the syntakt, switch usb to ‘overbridge’ mode in the syntakt settings menu, then launch the overbridge control panel on your mac.
overbridge control panel should detect your syntakt - you can change settings there if you want, but as long as the control panel detects your device then you should have no problem using the plugin in a daw.
If that fails, I would check mac System Information to see if it’s detecting the syntakt on the usb port (it might not say syntakt, maybe just something like ‘audio device’).
If system information isn’t detecting syntakt, then you probably have a bad usb cable. The cable that ships with the syntakt should be good, but you never know… and if you are using a different usb cable, it might be power-only.
edit: I don’t remember if overbridge wants any system permissions, but Apple loves to change their security settings on an almost daily basis. if system profiler sees the syntakt but overbridge control panel doesn’t find it, I would uninstall overbridge and then do a fresh install, paying particular attention to any security popups that want you to give overbridge permissions in security settings.
Another possible trouble-shooting step: install Transfer to see if it detects your Syntakt.
Just a USB cable. It can’t be both in Overbridge mode and act as an audio interface.
- Connect to Mac using a USB cable.
- Make sure the ST is in Overbridge mode.
- Make sure the Overbridge service is running. I believe you are prompted on install to let this extension run and start when the system starts up.
- In your DAW, drop the Overbridge VST on to a track.
Your DAW should be using a separate soundcard for input and output. Get that functionality confirmed first. If you need direction on how to access individual tracks, I can thumb out more instructions.
Thanks for that, I’ll try all of the above.
In the meantime I connected my DT2 just with USB (as I had done with Syntakt, and with the same cable) and OB picked it up right away.
I’ve already re-installed OB so I’m at a loss. I’ll try some of the above suggestions and see if any bear fruit
thanks
Amazing! After making the OB connection with my DT2 it now works with the Syntakt too…
Good to hear!
