Hi everybody ! I made a 4/4 techno tracks at 131 bpm.
With the octatrack I sampled a disco piece. How can i do to synchronize the sample perfectly on my 4/4 rhythm with octatrack?
What’s the problem with the disco piece? Different time signature and tempo?
Try slices?
Make absolutely sure that the disco sample is exactly as long as you want it. This means doing it semi-old school and listening back to make sure it loops properly. Adjust the start and end points as fit.
If this loop is, say, exactly four bars long, then go into the ATTR and tell it that it’s four bars long. The Octatrack will automatically adjust the bpm of the sample accordingly.
Now lay down a trig and get going. You can create an even slice grid too.
This is how I do all of my samples into the Octa. At first I thought it would sort of detect all this stuff but you gotta put the work in.
the signature is 4/4 i think , but kick, snare, kickkick, snare. The bpm is slower.
It’s good, I just adjusted the starting points and perfect end.
in all done 7.43 bar long
In the ATTR page it is written 7.43 bar, but it is always out of sync.
I have done something wrong ?
7.43 bars is strange. Get it so it’s an even number of bars and get it looping (as in, youre holding down FUNC+play to play the sample) perfectly by your ear. If you don’t quite have eight bars recorded, re-record it or settle on four.
Either way, get a good loop and tell it how many bars it is in the attr
EDIT: Or maybe it’s func+edit while in the audio editor. I’m not at my Octa and my muscle memory precedes my brain memory
Func +Yes plays samples/slices in the audio editor and previews sample in the slot list
I guess you need to correct your BPM to sample’s bpm or stretch the sample.
First post here, new OT user as well… I just came across the OT Mk2 manual, p. 108 “Preparing loops and samples” - solved all sync issues for me!
I have succeeded !! Thank you all for answering me
it can surely help someone else!
In fact it doesn’t work just because I was still in the recorder …
I had to leave home, so I save the sample in the ot,
When I come back home I loaded the sample back into a track OT and it’s placed alone at the right bpm with my music!
(Not to mention that when I recorded the sample I had already set the correct start point and end of the sample)
