Hi! Syntakt owner here, in love with the groovebox and, also I think it’s pretty easy to pick up, especially coming from the cycles (which I also love so much!).
I was going through the SY toy science lab thread and found out A LOT of people love that machine.
It’s not that I don’t like it, I think each machine has its own perks, but why do you find it that cool? What’s is it’s super power? What makes it that distinctive? Which workflow would you suggest when using it?
Im talking about it’s parameters, trigs tricks and of course LFO tinkering.
What is it all about then? ![]()
It’s an amazing machine for natural percussion sounds. Especially with velocity mod and FM-ing with LFOs. (a lot of these sounds were made with SY Toy)
These demos are simply ridiculously good ![]()
Thx Nils ^^
I agree, they’re incredible, I can’t really wrap my head around how you made these… Any suggestion?
I saw you two play in the “Blawan sound” thread and some of your demos are fu*king good.
Oxen, I’ve been following you on YT for quite some time, loved all the Syntakt sound exploration videos!
Maybe this one has the right tips in it? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=24-vpKbVJe8&t=10s
Skintak 003 makes me wanna buy a Syntakt.
That’s an ok video for sure but this old one is literally about making sounds like these with SY TOY:
Just purchased this. Superb sound pack @Oxenholme - great stuff!
Yay! Thanks for the support dude ![]()
SY TOY gives me bell, steel drum and, well, toy like sounds without any effort. And that kind of sound always gives my music an optimistic, naive and child like sound that I don’t naturally gravitate towards.
SY TOY also offers a huge variety within a very limited set of parameters. Sure, all Syntakt machines do, bot that one does it best imo and thus encapsulates the ST vibe perfectly.
It’s also great to play with these parameters while a sequence is running or apply some modulation. Results can be drastic or subtle but relatively easy to control and keep musical.
I wouldn’t know how to make these sounds with any other synth I own, and ST makes it so fun and easy.
Hey @Oxenholme I saw your latest video and went immediately to purchase a pack.
Good luck bro.
Thank you <3 Hope you enjoy the pack!
