I was asking about how XO has pattern presets, and I bought some from some packs that are on sale. I was going to manually sequence the preset patterns, but @CCMP was saying how you can drag midi in and play the sequence on Syntakt.
I was looking for a bit of direction on how to do that.
I got the Oscillations one for the vocal samples. Then once I saw what XO does, I wanted the Rachael Collier one because I wanted to make Elektro pop, kinda like Justice, but her presets were so few.
So I was torn between the J3PO ant the Peder Mannerfelt ones because they both were 80+ each.
By that point I just said F it and got them all.
It’s 50% off.
Plus, a while back, I got a Nick Samdran(sp?) x J3PO keys pack that had keyboard midi and it’s great, so I might as well stock up.
I think XO is stand alone, because I couldn’t find in in Logic’s instrument list.
So I found XO has an export function that you drag into Logic and then it midi learns to sync with XO? Or do I set that up?
And you are correct about trying to use the sequence from XO on the Syntakt, so I can get the groove and velocity, but want to use the machines in the Syntakt. (Or TR8S).
@BLKrbbt you should be able to use XO as a VST/AU within Logic, rather than using XO standalone… you can do it both ways, but it’ll be way faster using the plugin.
So (what I assume are) some pretty specific IRs, a handful of convenience routings (I can automate panning or run a bunch of AUXes through reverbs via delays… these just make all that much easier).
And an FM synth because I’m weak and apparently can’t not buy FM synths!
Hey, the Abbey Road Chambers sound really nice! Just watched a demo…That´s really something!
Reminds me I wanted to try the Waves Codex synth. It sounded really amazing in some YT video I recently watched. He had a really gnarly sequence going, must have been the wavetables and the modulation he had going, but that was really something for my taste.
This is now the third computer on which the WaveShell is causing massive problems. It at least works, on the computers I had before they would just not load at all or cause some crashes, but I can´t run all my other plugins when one Waves plugin has been loaded onto a track until I restart the PC. Overbridge for example, but also a handful other plugins. I actually didn´t even want to try any Waves plugins on this PC, but they gave away the Berzerk distortion some time ago and I thought why not give it a try…
One day I´l have to work this out with support…
Yeah, I’m just one datapoint and haven’t really stressed out my DAWs yet, but I was surprised how well the plugins ran considering I’m on a non-Intel Mac running Ventura. I’ve got a few plugins that hard crash if I try to load them still, and the Waves v14 stuff has, so far, been good.
I bought them on that sale, great price and they work really really well. I have been waiting for AI to make it to mixing plugins so to find these was a gift. I like to mix while i work and with these can literally throw it on, hit learn and keep working. Whatever it is, EQ, Compressor, it gives pretty spot on results and its easy to tweak if needed but i havent had to tweak the settings it pulls too much. worth the 40 bucks for sure.
EDIT: I previously described this as a CPU hog, but I think I was being unfair. Some of the patches are, but that’s because it’s capable of super layered patches. You can turn the number of oscilators down or use a less crazy patch and then it’s not too bad. Not as good as Dune or Hive, but better than Pigments for example.
