Roland’s Zenology Pro on sale, 57% off

This is a vst sequencer I’ve not heard of before, Waymaker. It’s currently on sale for $40 (usually $50).

The GUI is a little iPad-esque for my tastes, but the functionality is attractive and unique. It’s shooting for Euro-like modularity, so you can add additional sequencer/modulation blocks before and after other sequencers, which is really cool. I think I’m going to download and demo for a week and see how it goes. I’m a sucker for sequencers. I feel like I’ve got more than enough sound-generating tools, but I’m always interested to find new tools for sequencing.

If anyone’s using this, I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Oof this thing is beautifully f****d up haha. Not one for your clean delays but map it to a MIDI controller and have some fun with the feedback and grit

This looks really interesting, it’s a shame that using MIDI generating plugins in Ableton is a pain. I’d much rather use an M4L device to do this because they integrate more cleanly

Having used it for a couple of day and decided to buy it, I’d say I personally find the routing worth the effort. I’m getting very interesting results very quickly. It’s sort of lacking in pre-defined scales compared to some other engines, but I think that’s dealt with easily enough. The rhythmic results and the movement are really impressive. Stacking up different sequencers is pretty effortless and just making a few changes to any of them gets really fast results. I need to explore how well it responds to modulation sources that can dynamic alter aspects of the sequence that could yield even more varied results.

I’d really urge anyone who loves sequencers to at least download the demo and try it out for a week. Despite the GUI not initially being sexy to me, it does give solid visual feedback of where you’re and the workflow is pretty clean.

Oh I didn’t see there was a demo! Will try it out for sure, I guess I can always templatize the setup. Thanks for encouragement

Sounds fantastic, been looking for something gritty and colourful as a send effect. Been using the Arturia TAPE 201, or just Ableton Live Echo.

Yeah it’s definitely gritty, especially if you use digital or vintage mode!
