- The production and delivery timeline
- The Melancholytron blog
1. Superbooth 2026
Superbooth was once again quite overwhelming this year. There were many positive reactions, and several YouTube channels featured the instrument. My Gesprächskonzert at Superbooth 2026 can also now be found on YouTube.
Of course, there is some overlap between the reviews and the Gesprächskonzert. In the end, the Melancholytron only really does one thing: melancholy. But once again this year, I was reminded how deeply people can connect with melancholy, and how naturally the Melancholytron seems to fit within and express that emotional space.
Everyone who played the instrument managed to give it their own interpretation, often revealing new dimensions in sounds that I thought I already knew well, while still remaining unmistakably melancholic.
2. Production and delivery timeline
Many people have already ordered a Melancholytron through the website, either through a deposit or by paying the full amount. Thank you for that.
As I also mentioned during Superbooth, the components are currently in production. Some parts are arriving a little later than originally promised, but the overall process is moving forward well.
I will continue to keep you updated on the progress, including when the first Melancholytrons and No-Keybed Construct Melancholytrons will begin shipping.
3. The Melancholytron blog
This week or next week, I will also start a blog on Melancholytron.com.
There, I want to write about broader themes connected to melancholy, somewhat in the spirit of The Melancholy Daily, the small newspaper that was available at our booth during Superbooth.
I still have a few copies left, and I am considering making them available through the webshop as well (for shipping costs only) for those who could not attend Superbooth or missed our stand. Let me know if there is interest in that.
As always, questions, thoughts, and comments are very welcome.
Thank you for reading, and until the next newsletter.

In case someone missed it or someone is interested in the C64 sound, a complete 3 voice SID module was shown at SB:
I thought I saw a really reasonably priced poly AT keybed as a sort of dev kit.
I searched but couldn’t find it. Anyone recall what that was?
Bink Keybed?
Yes, thank you both.
Ha I don’t know why I quoted just “Batt” but I’m leaving it for the PWM.
Nick, and all his team, did a particularly nice job this year at SB. That Binkhorst interview is part of it.
Nick has a deep understanding of the technology, while still making that all practical.
My video is up of my chat with Ben from Audio.computer, where he shows off the Beat Friend and a new prototype “Machine #2” box they’ve been developing. It’s a time-stretching ambient looper box. It sounded really nice and I’m excited to see how it develops.
I’ve got loads of time for the Audio.computer guys, they’ve got two pretty unique and really appealing boxes here.
For those who are anticipating the Outbox 8, here’s my look at the new menu system and some information about its capabilities, from my chat with Elektron at Superbooth.
