100x this. If you can do better than the people that designed the damn thing, companies will certainly hire you lol
This new Microrack platform is very interesting and I can see some people who resisted or were intimidated by modular / Eurorack falling for it thanks to the basic principles and lower price. Or people with kids. Plus, it can be Eurorack compatible.
Maybe they have teamed up with Waves to release hardware versions of their OneKnob plugins
How about a quadlemma?
Five12’s own Numerology is the ideal software alternative to their Vector module. Yeah, you could eventually whip it up in Max4Live, but it’s had years and years of refinement and is very nice. Pairs elegantly with Launchpads for hardware control.
Numerology was my first serious sequencer beyond the DAW piano roll, and it pretty much spoiled me for most other sequencers (same thing Cirklon owners always say).
Well done!
How could I miss out on that one all these years?
Im quite looking forward to this
I think, mostly this will be interesting for those of us that like tinkering with electronics (and modular).
if you want a cheap alternative to Eurorack, then first take a look at AE Modular (they are at SB)
AE modular has come a long way, it’s really mature now - and they have a ton of modules, and even some 3rd party modules.
notably, AE modular (like this) started as a quite ‘experimental sound’ (e.g. tuning was problematic), these days its so much more… and yet, Robert has kept the same budget price ethos.
also Erica Synths have been collaborating with Moritz Klein on their DIY (educational) series.
and Moritz mention they are going to be releasing a kind of ‘eurorack prototyping’ kit.
… so if you are into electronics and what to experiment within the eurorack ecosystem, thats looking promising… not sure if thats on show at SB.
(strangely, a few years back, Peter Edwards/ Casper Electronics & Bastl was working on something similar and showed it at SB, but it never got released. )
anyway, I’ll probably pickup a Microrack… looks fun !
btw: anyone at Superbooth visiting the Microrack booth
can you ask them, for the eurorack ‘adapter’ what protection does it include?
… putting DIY electronics into an expensive case with other modules, you dont want to damage something else
Notice how the case itself says Mircorack, not Microrack. Wonder what the story is there?
Yeah, the Crum2 looks sweet! It’s the successor to Nyström’s recent DIY-only Crum Drum, which is one of the most delightful generative drum things I’ve ever had the pleasure of playing. This adds a lot of additional controls to what is already a fantastic sound engine. I’m in!
Here’s the intro video of the Crum Drum, which is a strong hint on the sound palette of the Crum2.
can’t wait to see what kinda parameters we got in perc
No mention of sample slicing on Play/+, I’m guessing it’s not happening on this update
Has anyone managed to get any glimpse into the future of Syntakt from the Elektron reps on the floor? I’m still intrigued by the “more machines will follow” promise from Nov '23.)
The default case is the white one, smaller. That black one is for those willing to insert Microrack modules in a Eurorack system.
No idea about the pun behind “Mircorack” but if I had to guess I’d go for a wink to the Mir space station and its capacity to connect with other modules.
the perc engine sounds super good, is that FM?
Pretty much the same thing I am wondering, obviously the focus is on DT2 right now, but would be cool to have a bit of insights on the other products plans, especially now that they officially stated switching onto a new platform.
I think DTII has top priority for now. And I am very glad about that
ST is IMHO very complete and useful, isn’t it?
(Of course I do have a not so short list of wishes, somewhere in the ST feature requests thread, but I know it’s just wishes, nice-to-haves )
Sure, I’m not suggesting otherwise. But there are already developed features in other boxes that would imho 2x its usefulness, would be cool to know if they’re coming (euclid, perform kit, ctrl-all exclusion etc.). If they’re actively teasing new stuff coming to the machine imho it’s ok to ask – nevermind tho, don’t want to go too deep into offtopic territory.
They once had their Berlin office right around the place I live and my studio resides.
Great bunch
