I wonder if the Sonicstate video with Nick was a prototype, as well? Can’t recall off hand. Sounded pretty damn good for prototypes. Promising. September? Pssshhh, that’s only like 10 weeks away.
To bad,not a summer thing. Oh well. Good things take time
Well the used components/circuit for the sound is probably more or less final, the bigger problem is getting the product finalized for the production line. (How the pcb is arranged, case, etc to have as few sources for error and less production steps, testing that the controls and case hold up, testing for electrical interference, etc.
Most of that comes when you’re already where you want to be with sound and features.
My preorder is safe, I’m very much looking forward to it! Happy to see Stylophone taking it to the next level. Bodes well for future development of some cool new instruments.
September they sad. So in 2-6 weeks…
I looked back to the sonic state presentation:
I’m missing some aspects. First, nice that there is a double duty option for LFO waves… But it’s leaking the option for them to run in different speeds, meaning long evolving patterns are hard without external modulation, simply cause after one cycle were back where we were.
And I’m missing the option to control reverb size and delay repetitions per lfo.
I’m also still not happy with the design (looking at something like the make noise devices, I don’t like the fins on the site and the presentation on the UI looks kinda… Plain and boring)
What I’m also still missing is an explanation of the routing, when taking a signal out, does it cut or get send to both destinations? Is the line in summed and then routed through the effects? Or is it added after the effects? Does it rout a stereo signal through or just mono?
All nitpicking, I’m aware of that.
It’s maybe partially since there isn’t much footage out there and it seems kinda like a souped up monotron with it’s mostly space sci-fi sounds.
This sounds more negative then I am. It’s still a great device. I’m just waiting antsy to see what others can really do with it, how versatile it is. A lot of the demoes where to stepped/erratic, not something I want from a drone synth
(and for the shipments to start so that I can try it myself, my micro brute and field kit wait for it, and maybe I can find a cheap sq-1 somewhere to)
Yeah, I am waiting for more demos from third parties, and a manual. Not going to buy on day one, for sure. Also not holding my breath for September.
Reflecting on this, the https://www.elektronauts.com/t/sonicware-liven-ambient-o/ is more the sound I want…
Also a nice device. Kinda close to the texture lab.
I’m still waiting for proper reviews/previews of the finished device. The benefit this has it cv.
I also hope the sound can do more then 60s sci-fi.
With the liven stuff I can’t really incorporate it that well with other stuff (midis not the best for modulation) and
From Reddit:
Seems it’s end of October, with a chance that we’re in November, production not jet (fully?) started.
Where on Reddit?
Thanks. Curious that it didn’t turn up in my search.
Latest news from Stylophone:
DS-2 UPDATE
…
We’re still working hard behind the scenes, and slowly but surely we’re getting closer to production. It’s sounding and looking great - last minute design challenges have been over come and we’re now working towards a release date of NOVEMBER.
Two emails from Stylophone this week, which are… Xmas spam for their other products. One more and I’m unsubscribing. I already spent the money that was earmarked for the DS-2.
yeah, I have given up on this one. Last update mentioned November for next update. Seems Stylophone maybe was a bit too ambitious.
I can accept delays. Shit happens, especially shit that is not under one’s control. But they definitely control the quality and frequency of their communications.
just as another data point, i havent received any other emails from them other than the update emails. wish i would get a new update one!!
I got the email this morning and not going to lie I am a little surprised with the price. I was hoping/guessing $199 and lower for some reason.
