Anyone messing with this? I just got it and am really into it.
Saw it too and consider moving to Ableton
at least not upgrading from 4 to 7
I just upgraded (124 USD on Best Services). I think its a great update, loads of new stuff, workflow improvements (global transpose, scale stuff, impact integration and beat detection great)
Studio One Pro 7 Features:
- AI-Powered Stem Separation: One of the most in-demand features, AI-powered Stem Separation allows creators to un-mix audio into four separate tracks which ultimately isolates stems from existing audio tracks. The separated audio events can be bounced again into a single file allowing for quick creation of instrumentals.
- Splice Integration: PreSonus has partnered with Splice ā the industry-leading catalog of royalty-free sounds and producer tools, to provide the companyās very first in-DAW experience. Using āSearch with Soundā, creators can drop in audio or capture a selection within a track and instantly discover compatible sounds from Splice that sync to the projectās key and tempo. While existing Splice users will enjoy this powerful integration, users new to Splice will have access to thousands of Splice samples ā hand picked and made free for Studio One Pro 7 users, regardless of whether they are subscribed to Splice or not.
- Integrated Launcher: Quickly craft new arrangements with ease using a dynamic grid of audio or MIDI loops and patterns that can be triggered and edited in real time. Now, creators can record or import audio and MIDI directly into cells, edit the contents, create scenes and playlists, and capture Launcher live performances directly on the timeline. Musicians can enjoy effortless drag-and-drop functionality and direct control via Studio One Remote or ATOM/SQ. Best yet, the view is integrated into the arrangement allowing producers to view both the arrange and launch windows at the same time, so users can move content quickly and intuitively between both sections of the arrangement.
- Deep Flight One: A most popular sound set prized for its soundscapes, drones, pads, leads, and bass sounds is now available as a standalone instrument in Studio One Pro 7, offering up to three layers, integrated effects, and all-new presets. Experience evolving soundscapes, atmospheric textures, and cutting-edge presets perfectly suited for ambient exploration.
- Impact Integration for Note Editor: Optimized for creating patterns and editing sounds, the new in-place editor provides access to all instrument pads, pad and sample editor controls. Conveniently create patterns, adjust parameters, and edit virtual drum sounds without having to open a new window.
- Interactive Scale and Loop Tools: All scale-related features are now in one place, allowing users the fastest and easiest way to edit-in scale whether they are working with preset scales or creating their own. Additionally, the Loop Tool, the ultimate time saver for intuitive arranging and production, is now available as an alternative to duplicating events. The Event Loop option is the quickest way to fill a section or even an entire track with looped copies.
- Global Transpose: Change the key of an entire song with just one click and transpose audio and notes events in real time. This new feature updates the song key signature, chords, and notes all in one.
- Advanced Tempo Detection: In order to know original tempo, a crucial step for music production, Studio One Pro 7 now features tempo detection for audio events of any length, as well as the option to extract the original tempo map to the Tempo Track.
- CV Instrument: Users with vintage or modern analog hardware are now able to control their instruments directly from Studio One Pro 7.
7.2 is out
And this is a pretty crazy bang/buck deal (thatās a full Pro license with 1 year of āfreeā updates).
Frankly, itās the 1st time Iām seeing DAW being on sale while new update is out:
Yeh, My 7 Pro licence is basically worthless now! (had same effect on Bitwig Licences). I still like S1 however, it hope this new model works out for them and it isnāt in a death spiral. You get a lot for a little now everything is includedā¦one of the most powerful full function DAWS fore under 100 bucks with a ton of content that all used to be paid extrasā¦insane really. Its not much more than bare-bones Reaper now (60 bucks) and you get Melodyne and a load of high quality instruments and fx with S1!
Amazon has upgrades of any version of Pro or Artist for $68.25.
Shows up at $104.99 when I click that link
Iāve had it sitting in my cart since yesterday at $68.25 and it just went up for me as well as.
Bummer! Iāve been sitting on 5 Pro for years and for $68 itās kind of a no-brainer.
Theyāre also bundling Pro with a lot of their hardware, and giving a license for free for existing owners who donāt have Pro already attached to their account, check your account at my.presonus.com to see if there is a nice surprise there for you ![]()
I hadnāt even really considered Studio One before and have been seeing some buzz around it. But the thing that really caught my attention is that it seems like it has a flexible model in terms of tracks / instruments / mixer? As in itās not locked to a single instrument per track, each are somewhat independent, so tracks can be routed to a vst instrument rack and from there to the mixer in custom ways?
Donāt think I have the bandwidth to learn a new DAW right now and pretty locked in to Logic/Ableton/Bitwig for various parts of my process, but if that is true Iād definitely have to look more closely at Studio One in future.
It doesnāt really matter for 95% of the time. But itās handy when you need it AND you know why.
Basically itās the old hardware studio paradigm, where youād have
-
sequencer TRACKS - think hardware drum sequencer, a tape deck player, a synth that someone plays, i.e. tracks that contain information on what, when and how to play sounds by other devices
-
mixer/console CHANNELS - where all the sound produced by the above is routed to, collected, processed and mixed
āModernā DAWs assume itās a fixed 1:1 relationship, therefore you rarely have MIDI tracks without instruments (e.g. notes that are sent elsewhere), console channels without sequencer tracks (e.g. return tracks, buses), or automation-only tracks.
All of this however is present in Studio One (and ā¦Reason), but itās not a gamechanger or anything. Just ensures thereās less mess ā¦and more confusion

Not sure why all the duplicate Presonus Studio One threads ? An Elektronaut thing i guess.
Anyway, looks like Fender is branding the new release, perhaps this is 8 (?), calling it Fender Studio Pro. They are also making controller hardware for it.
See this post :
Itāll take a while to associate fender with a daw and electronic music ⦠as a brand itās been totally irrelevant for me for my entire lifetime ( 55 yrs so far ) except for all the obvious nonsense about guitars .
I canāt see me suddenly changing to studio 1 ā¦but Iām sure itās a reasonable option .
Yep, itās listed as version 8 in the user portal for downloads
Theyāve added a bunch of extra plugins and studio one extensions as part of the free update too - I donāt use it very often, but nice to see the extras in there.
Mono or polyphonic audio to MIDI, plus it can extract drum parts from audio too. They also added a chord assistant.
Some videos :
Good to know! Sticking to version 4 and moving on to Ableton ![]()
Prob me just being stupid but I dont like the idea of a guitar brand rebranding a DAW
Could be worse, Fender is actually owned by Home Page - Servco who are more about automotive!
I cant say I am too bo9thered either way about the rebranding, I am a Fender Guitar guy and in many ways the Fender brands means more to me than āPresonusāā¦but all in all I havenāt been very impressed with the lass couple of updates or the subscription type systemā¦I donāt think they have added anything since V5 that I needed/wantedā¦just starting to feel like toys and padding now (as it pretty much had everything at V5!)
Iāve been a Studio One user since it came out, and this just feels weird to me having to call it Fender and not Presonus. And Iām a guitar player ![]()
