Studio one 3 users? Experiences

Hey.
So I am looking to run essentially just tracking and mixing itb.
So at this point I am eyeing S one 3 for that purpose, does anyone have good, or bad experiences with it?
Kinda interested in overbridge, but not a deal breaker.
Mostly interested in a hands on mixing controller. Does anyone use one for that purpose? (Faderport 8 maybe?)
For me I am done with push, so I am seeing less and less draw to ableton live.
So it’s either finding a controller for reason, or doing only sound design in reason and mixing in studio one 3.
Thoughts?
Cheers

Bueller?

I used v2 and 3 for a good while, stopped using it since I got a Reaper license. I just Rewire or use the Reaper Rearoute device (virtual soundcard) to pipe stuff like Ableton into it, since in Reaper I have all my monitor routing and tracking setup for my hardware.

Nothing wrong with S1 but just doesn’t offer me anything I really need.

No idea about S1, but I recently started tracking & mixing exclusively in Reason after they bought in VST support - wasn’t a bad experience at all coming from the Logic environment. If you’re looking for a mixing controller, the nektar panorama aint bad. Don’t have mine anymore, but it integrated quite well.

Yeah, I tried using reason and couldn’t handle it, always having to switch between the 3 windows, and not being able to punch in and out killed it for me.
Now I still think the rack is the coolest for sound design, but I mostly sample those sounds these days.

I’ve been using S1 and like it a lot, but I’m primarily using it for tracking vocals and live performances, not for my own productions. I’m using Ableton or Reason for my own electronic stuff for the most part. S1 for me is really like a stripped down Cubase which I really like. It’s very quick and has a great workflow. If I was very heavy into midi and scoring, I’d go the Cubase route since I think it’s more complete in that area.

You can find some great deals on S1 either on Ebay or the users group on Facebook. I got my copy for 50% off. A lot of people who buy the Presonus consoles get a full copy included with that and will sell it since they already have one in many cases. They also run a Black Friday sale every year.

I’m using v2, mostly for tracking, mixing and rewire ableton.
Its Great for audio editing, fast and simple. Midi wise, i prefer ableton
