Strymon El Capistan - WOW

And, got it hooked up already??

since she’s got a mixer there and looks to have plenty connected to it, I’m guessing the pedals are on the effects buss. which usually is a lot more flexible if you’re routing line levels to pedals, versus going directly into them. with a mixer, you can hit them with only the level they’re looking for, and not too much that they’ll clip. and then boost the return signal if you need to.

that said, I’ve never had a problem with Strymon pedals and line levels (I have six, and have owned more). Chase Bliss, on the other hand, are quite sensitive to line levels. I have to keep most synths’ output volume below halfway, or they’ll clip and distort.

I believe the El Capistan has been compared to the Echoplex and not the RE-201. I’m no tape echo historian but that might be why it sounds different than you’re expecting.

ok so a machinedrum going into digitone going into a tascam 414. the el capistan on the send/return to max level and driving my signal pretty hard, pretty much as hard as I can and I can’t hear any perceivable clipping or unwanted effects but this is just my first impression and maybe I just don’t know what to listen for yet. idk glad though seems like a neat delay

i made some lovely tunes with it and i loved hooking an exp pedal to the feedback. but i definitely like the Magneto more, specially when i automate parameters with a Pam’s New Workout.
