I searched, but did not find any concrete info… So, hopefully someone can help me.
I have all of the Elektron boxes… and have for a while. The RYTM is my newest one, but it’s the first to have a sticky button. It’s the No/Reload button. It’s driving me nuts.
I’ve tried spraying it out and pressing it a lot - two things that sometimes work on other gear.
Any other tips? I will be seeing a tech friend soon, so I’ll probably lug it over there, but it would be really nice if I could just do it at home myself.
I do NOT want to open the machine, btw. I normally would on any ol’ piece of gear, but I’d prefer not void the warranty on a machine that has already needed work (and the first one I got died).
I had a similar problem with a new Rytm last week only my sticky button was the microTime- button just to the right of your problem button. Shining a light on the button I could clearly see some kind of goo on the side of the button that was sticking to the metal of the faceplate. I found a sewing needle fine enough to fit between the button and the case and scraped it along the circumference of the button, below the surface of the faceplpate. Fixed my sticky button. Careful not to force it, you don’t want the needle to snap off inside the box.
Funny, I have all the boxes and 2 weeks ago I had the same sticky thing on my A4 NO/Reload button.
I opened it and there was nothing visible so I ordered a button at Elektron which they send me for free. Thanks for that!
Since I did not have my soldering iron next to me when the button arrived, I opened my A4 again and put some Kontakt 60Spray into the old button. Well, its now my smoothest button on the machine
It works just great!
