have bought and sold this fucker three or four times and always browse for deals - but getting to grips with octatrack mk1 killed mk1 it for me really there’s no comparison

The OG Digitakt is like a Telecaster to me. You can add more bells and whistles but the original is a definitive statement.

I dare, because I am still using the OG! And I will keep the OG anyhow! 
It still odes wonders and it became a staple my music workflow.

Completely agree. I also upgraded to the mkII a while back, and using it made me realise what a piece of art the OG was/is.
I got the OG DT in 2017 after using old mpc’s for years, and it completely changed the way I approach beatmaking, sounddesign and sequencing. Even with the single lfo, single filter and no machines back then, it felt like the most inspiring machine I’d ever used because of the perfect combination of possibilities and limits. A telecaster is a great analogy, or, for a bass player like me: a precision with flatwounds. It just works the way its supposed to.
The new one has a lot of great added features which I enjoy, but I’m not sure they actually make my music better…

I’ve been missing the Digitakt and I happened to find a new one, yes NEW (b-stock but new) from a UK retailer for £449.
Seemed like a mega-deal. Let’s see what arrives in the post.

I don’t plan on moving from my OG DT to the DTII, but do we know if it would be possible to add Velocity as a modulation destination? Even the the Model:Samples has this.

Yeah thers a couple features i would like to get.
Velocity as modulation
Eucledian sequencer
Some was to sequence the delay/reverb
Instant playback in a track after sampling
None of them would need much ui adaptions (except the eucledian) and would not get in the way of it being an OG digitacr nor should they add a lot of processing load.

Not the same but you can modulate sample level, amp level, or overdrive, which is what I do as a workaround for this.

I meant more to use velocity to modulate different things. Say high levocity → also high reverb send.
You can modulate delay and reverb params with a midi loopback
I don’t think they will add velocity since I believe it’s one of the enhancements for DT II.
If you have an M8, you can use that as a velocity module for it.
Yeah but loopback and external velonity ruins the oneness. Loopback with a retrokits that risks weird mido behavior from what i read and uses up the ports is not what i se at seamles as i usually see the elektron sequencer integration.
Yes its one of the enhancements, altough i dont see why it was not added for the OG as well.
Its just stuff i wish was added. Its still a great machine in what it is 
I don’t see how a single lead in and out of the machine ruins the ‘oneness’. You don’t need a retro kits, you can use a regular lead for it, no problems there. A hub should get you extra ports if you want them thru s still available.
They’re not going to cannibalise sales of the new machines, that’s an unreasonable expectation. If you want velocity mod, I gave you one solution. You get a better sequencer too. Otherwise upgrade.

I post this because for my money, this has got to be one of the last, if not the last, Digitakt Mk1 retail units.
