Stelae - a modular synth intergalactic trip

Although not technically Elektron related (excpet for the fact they are pretty much the only machines I use now) some of you might get some joy out of this.

Stelae is an album that was recorded during 2011. It has sat in the release waiting lists of a few labels none of which ever eventuated, so I thought it was cursed. Obviously the only way to break the curse is to give the thing away

Recorded on a large DIY modular built by Luke Bassett that I looked after while he traveled the world, the intention of the album is an intergalactic-dark-ambient-synth field trip.
The album also features DSI mono Evolver keyboard and vocals. The tracks are recorded in a single pass in the studio with minimal mastering before hitting your ears.
Here is a pic of the studio at that time with Luke’s modular on the right:

will check it out asap. i love that modular. he really did a great job w/all those modules. kinda epic!

Had a great time listening to the full release this morning through my headphones at work. Heavy slow tidal movement. Some of the tones reminded me of the soundtrack to the V’ger scenes in the first Star Trek movie, which I hadn’t thought of in ages.

Yeah it’s a beautiful thing! Every bit of it so well thought out, from the module choices to the panel layouts and the amazing cabinetry. And of course the sound!

Thanks so much for listening!!

Beautiful sounds and atmospheres

Lovely sound and the modular!
Downloading now, will give it proper listen in FLAC :+1:
