SSLS #4: FX track

It’s more about starting the sequence rather than stopping it.
I need to ping delay somehow to start feedback loop. Sometimes it works when I just press Play, sometimes I have to disable Delay → FX routing first.

I’m not sure what’s going on here but it’s either delay oscillates by itself (what I expect) or even Impulse trigs don’t start delay oscillation. I guess it’s related to some interaction between filter and delay but I couldn’t trace and fix that.
The routing hack works and that’s enough for me.

Trying to get a more predictable rhythm going :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Three short recordings. The delay is feeding constantly in the background, the LFOs of the FX track is shaping it.

Syntakt FX Track into OT with a couple of downpitched copies and some reverb, lofi, comb filter and compression on the master track. Atmo for days!

I’ve been very inspired by this thread, thanks! Here’s something that came of it…

Most musical sounding so far. Nice!

This one I tried to me more reproductible. Karplus Strong is the key.

I started off with Karplus Strong & what ended up being an Aphex-style beat:

then on a whim stopped the sequencer and started trying to walk the line between the delay running out of control and feeding back “nicely” then played with the ping-pong on/off & the delay speed.

Watch your ears/volume with the last 20s of the first track!

i was wondering how close one could get to blawans sound on the st, that could be a fun challenge in itself!

I am a big fan of Blawan, his sound is super inspiring. Some of my tracks in «That Syntakt Sound» are quite inspired by him, but honestly feel like a faint shadows of his hyper sound.

It’s a great idea for a science lab btw!

Which era Blawan? Because he’s done quite a few things

I definitely have made some Blawan-esque kicks with BD FM.

Good question  He definitely develops from release to release. Maybe the best approach is for everyone to pick their own Blawan track/album.

Your works in this lab are standing near releases from experimental hardcore places (like Praxis?) but 30 years ago. :smiling_imp:

Very interesting. Now I know what a robot’s asthma attack would sound like.

Now that’s a label I had no idea about, but I’ve got to thank you for introducing me!
