Splice

Okay you got me there, I could have swore it was different on listening to the finished track, regardless though I still think shitting on someone else’s work or process is crumby behaviour… there’s plenty of room for all of it without the yum yucking…

I’m not trying to shit on anyone, I just think it’s amusing is all.

I’m a little surprised ableton implemented splice… course they’ve always had loops but it feels different somehow…

I would imagine Splice actually paying Ableton to work on the feature, and maybe even offering a cut of the credits used through Ableton itself. Sounds lime a good deal moneywise for everyone imo

i gotta say, the beat for a diss track, for a beef that was only a thing because the horribly washed up opponents are both miserably desperate for any kind of attention, doesnt strike me as a place to find genuine creativity. i think its ok to call a spade a spade, this is low effort capitalism music.

You’re right - I think that was just all me. I was already telling myself to skip this thread knowing the types of comments I’d see. Jumped in anyway

Being old and a product of 90s raving, I’ve always wanted my music to sound a certain way. At some point, I got on forums where the common thread was “samples are bad” so I spent many years trying to get the sound I wanted without using “samples”

Alas, several years ago, I linked up with one of my favorite producers from the era. He was like, “bro, that was all loops and samples” That’s the sound you hear.

Never looked back…

I’m definitely not against samples. Quite the opposite. but I just cancelled my Splice account as I have to keep forcing myself to use it. Mostly I want vocal samples, but they’re all so cheesy, and even the “dry” versions are often drenched in reverb.
