Spectralis 2 or Monomachine?

I cant decide :sob:

The Spectralis is pretty rear and has a really good sound quality and an analog filterbank but i have been looking at the monomachine for a while now because i also like its raw and digital sound characteristics.

What would you choose and why?

please tell me…

I would say it depends on your priorities.

If you’re after sound go with the Spectralis. If you rather have a powerful sequencer go with the Monomachine.

The Spectralis is newer too I believe.

had the spectralis quite a while, that said it was the 1st generation.
i then traded it for a monomachine and never really looked back.

i did like most of the concept and the sound of the spectralis though.

what i didn’t like was being forced to the song structure where a fluid change of songs wasn’t possible, lack of naming the sequencerlines, popping filters were an issue too.
also integrating it into a MIDI system wasn’t as easy, since the device preferred to be master, afair. and better don’t expect regular updates of the OS from RT like elektron does.

the dsynth was kind of too limited and the sample managing felt like a true nightmare, at least for me. perhaps because i didn’t have the ROM extension…?
had thought about to upgrading it too, but then i felt i should better part and take another route, which was the monomachine like mentioned before.

still have the mono.

Please tell us about your existing set-up, what you feel is missing, and what you want to do with any new gear.

I think im going for a monomachine as i am tempted to create a small digital jamming Setup.

MnM for synths and my LXR for drums…

cheers!

My Monomachine arrived yesterday and i love it.
I only had the Chance to skip through some of the preset Patterns while drinking my morning coffee.
It sounds awesome, i really dig the silver faceplate and the user Manual is also really nice.

All those fancy new gear announcements at namm but i couldnt be happier with my purchase decision.

Congratulations on your new toy! You will experience equal amounts of joy and frustration for at least a little while. The machine is incredibly deep and can be quite confusing at first, but give it time, and it will reveal its secrets to you. It takes some practice to get higher quality sound out of it, but once you learn a few tricks, the machine really opens up.

  • turn off LP FILTER TRACKING (setting applies to individual machines, and is located on the ASSIGN page).

  • layer sounds, then route them through an effect or compressor.

  • save new kits all the time to prevent losing you work (you won’t run out of space).

  • copy tracks, or patterns, so if you mess up, you can essentially just paste and undo your mistake. There is no undo function on this machine!

  • external effects can really make the sounds of the machine blossom.

Yey congrats
What Freefall says & explore the Arp. Level controls amount of steps & you can mute individual steps too to create sequences within the main sequence. 7/16 & shit like that!

When you feel you’re up to speed check out the Trig Tracks, page 58 of the manual - joy

The MnM, of course! You all know why… :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Thanks for your helpful tips guys.
I´ll keep them in mind…

Edit: I just found that: http://tarekith.com/assets/monomachine_tipsandtricks.htm

Pretty useful but also a bit overwhelming. :astonished:

The Monomachine is an enigma whereas the Spectralis is a mystery.
