SP 404 MKII plugin (OSX) - issue playing back recorded MIDI

I finally installed the latest 404 update, upated the editor and remembered… I’m on OSX now, there’s a plugin for it. Wonderful!

Upon loading the plugin, I play the 404 and magic, the sound is in my DAW. I pressed Record, and MIDI got recorded. When I play it back, same track, with the plugin on the track, no joy, no sound…

I can’t see what I’m doing wrong. It worked to put the MIDI clip on another MIDI track, and send it via normal MIDI to the 404, but not when played on the track where the plugin is…

anybody using this setup? I’m on Ableton Live 12.

Can’t find any comprehensive video.

I thought maybe it has to do with MIDI mode. I had it on B. When on B, if I play MIDI notes in Live on the track where the plugin is, no pad gets triggered.

I switched to mode A. There, MIDI notes in Live get played by the 404, BUT, when I trigger pad 3 on bamk D on the 404, it plays both that pad and pad 3 on bank A…
