Source Audio Ventris with MEGAfm Demo Video

Hi there,

here’s a demo video of the fantastic Ventris Reverb Pedal by Source Audio. It’s definitely one of my favorite reverb pedals. Maybe you find it useful.

Good timing on this. I’m trying to decide between the Oto Bam and the Collider, which is only $280 at PC right now and seems like a steal. Any thoughts between the two? Collider has 7 of the more interesting reverb algos from Ventris, I think.

I don’t know the OTO BAM yet but I really liked the collider pedal. Apart from its reverbs I absolutely liked the oil can delay. So much character! Collider would be the combo pedal of my choice (followed closely by Avalanche Run and Specular Tempus). 280 $ is a no-brainer, imo

Also on sale for 135 is their Lunar stereo phaser pedal, which can also run their other One algorithms like chorus and flanger. $414 for Collider and Lunar, could make for a gooey FX loop. Bam might have to wait…

I was doing this deliberation, chose the collider, for price (and delay!) really regretted it, and bought the BAM in the end. Different leagues.

Collider is workable, kinda. It’s a guitar pedal. BAM is almost (almost) an instrument. very playable, transforms sounds, you get the filters, the drive/grit from the input gain, and then of course the reverb itself.

I have posted elsewhere on here about my lack of love for the Collider, and my over love for the BAM. Just found Collider not very interesting.

BUT Then the BAM is a lot more expensive, so I totally get the attraction of the Collider. Depends on what you want it for.

Your description of Bam is spot on with my experience with it. I want that mojo. I don’t have first hand experience with the Collider so I appreciate your comments. Sounds like it might be comparing apples and oranges.

I have the Ventris + Nemesis duo (better than having a Collider) and the BIM + BAM duo. For me, they are both outstanding duos. If I had to part with one of them, I would have a hard time deciding which one. I think they both offer something special. Best case scenario is to try them because they both offer a different workflow and a different feel.

I guess I’ll have to try it one day. Sounds pretty interesting!

I’ve nearly bought this pedal numerous times. Most people probably don’t care, but the intervals of the shimmer effect can be assigned chromatically! So if you want sculpted dissonances to linger in the air, the Ventris will stack them to your tastes. You can assign the pitches to any intervals you dial in, which makes the Ventris more versatile in that one way than the Strymon Night Sky.

Edit: And just so people know, the Collider won’t do that (as ingenious as that dual pedal is). Only the Ventris will.
