Soundcloud is doing something unusual but interesting. I wonder how much each one will cost, could be fun to press some mixtapes onto vinyl. elasticStage shows prices between $32.40 - $46.40 on their website, I wonder if Soundcloud will sweeten the deal somehow, more than just integrating the option into their own website.
anyone used elasticStage before?

Interesting. I don’t think Soundcloud will sweeten the deal tbh, but it would be great if they will.

i also have a hard time seeing them sweetening the deal, so it seems like kind of a half-baked collaboration. i guess i can imagine them doing like a “one free print per Artist Pro account” just to give people a taste, but that also seems unlikely. guess we’ll see where it goes, i joined the waitlist so i’ll report back here when its live. kinda seems like elasticStage is getting the better end of this bargain

Sounds interesting. But I hope they’ve addressed the single vs album issue exposed here:
Which is a deal breaker for me. I don’t care about albums. I would only be interested in using this for EPs for DJs to play.

they have EPs as an option, what problem do they mention in the video?

Hard for me to describe due to lack of knowledge on the technical intricacies of vinyl pressing. But you know how albums have a ton of tracks on each side? Each song taking a short amount of space on the record? And the level of these albums is lower than the good old 45rpm 12” we all used to play on our Dj sets, which had one or two tracks per side? The albums were quieter, probably due to the constraints of having to press more tracks in the same amount of space ? Well, according to the video, If you press an ep with one track or two per side, it would take the same amount of space as if it was part of an album, meaning most of the record would be empty space, and therefore will most likely be quieter during playback.

Elasticstage is a much better quality than I’d have expected from a pressed to order service but to me at least it’s still some ways off a proper manufactured run so I wouldn’t recommend it for making promo cuts intended to be played in a club, it’ll be noticeable against the proper cuts
