Hey everyone, I’m new to the AR2 and have two questions based on how to use and manage Sounds
What is the difference between the Sound Pool and Sound Browser/Manager? What advantage does using the Sound Pool have over quickly assigning a new sound via the Browser?
Are there any common things to check for when trigs dont play their assigned sounds? I have a few different sounds on pads (not sure if there’s a better way to say that) that have trigs set and do not play once they’re passed over on the sequencer. The only thing I can think of is that I might have sounds that aren’t compatible with the current tracks they’re on, since right before this started happening, I was experimenting with Sound Browser/Manager/Pool. However, this is only happening on a few tracks. My kick is fine.
hi, the pool is exclusive for the active project, as the browser is for the whole machine sounds.
you can fill the sound pool with sounds from the browser and , for example, change the sound for one trig via the sound pool (trig lock)
the sequencer thing… you are aware the machine has 12 tracks but only 8 outputs? some are grouped together, indicated by the lines between the pads. so maybe they are playing at the same time, so one will choke the other? try to mute the neighbor pad and listen if the sound appears?
also, sample and synthesizer trigs can be enabled/disabled on the trig page, maybe one is deactivated?
they also have their own volume parameters on their corresponding pages…
a lfo working on the volume or filter of course can also choke trigs from time to time if set in certain ways…
Mine seems a little buggy*. Sometimes, when creating a new pattern, the “SRC” or “SAMP” trigger for a track will toggle off without me realising. So, when that happens, the first thing I do is check the [TRIG] page to ensure both toggles are on (or at least, the one for the sound engine I want). Then I check the [MUTE] page. If those are all set as you would expect, try the Trigs Mutes ([FUNC]+[BANK E]).
= It might not be “a bug”. I’ve noticed that a pattern will show as “empty” (tap the corresponding [BANK] and observe the trig key isn’t lit) but it retains some properties from a time when it used to have trigs on (such as tempo, and kit if you saved one). Clearing a pattern ([FUNC]+[PLAY]) wipes the trigs, but doesn’t fully “reset” the pattern. So it’s possible that my “buggy” experience is just a collision between today’s exploration and yesterday’s forgotten adventures.
