usps managed to get it in seattle before the holiday…now we wait and see if they can complete the hail mary pass…

So I preordered for the July 14th batch. I really didn’t want to buy any more gear and focus on guitar but this sounds so good I made myself a deal. If it ships before my mid august trip I’ll keep it. If not I’ll cancel the preorder. I think that seems reasonable! I grabbed the PSU. Love the battery option but it’s nice to plug in while they are charging!

got a couple tunes where i sampled the evoke into some samplers and couple where i sequenced some patterns on the evoke. i’m liking it so far! i got over the keys pretty quickly. the sounds are really nice, they could feel thicker but i can always do that on the samplers, i may not need to do that every time, i havent experimented a whole lot with full sound design yet.

no overlay, hell yeah. i managed to pick around most of the settings just from looking at the front panel. the shift/func distinction is kinda goofy, but im picking up on it. the grain delay can sound pretty cool, im finding the sweet spots that i like. i think you can save presets for the grain delay, a nice touch.

im gonna play with the wavetable side more tonight, so far its been great to have a portable casio type synth with extra depth. it fits in my backpack just fine, a decksaver would make it just right.

these tracks are all not my favorite but its definitely something other than the sounds from the promo materials

Sounds great!

I’m not sure I understand, are the two first tracks coming out of the evoke? Or are they evoke sounds used somewhere else?

In any case not the type of thing I expected out of it. Nice!!!

all of the melodic sounds are from the evoke, but sampled onto either the ep133 or the p6. tracks three and four are sequenced on the evoke, with a lil drum line on the p6 in the fourth one. i get why they aim for the ambient cinematic niche but im approaching this as a straight rompler and its treating me well.

made a couple more this morning. im having lots of fun with it, its a keeper. this first one was done along with the p6, i had them midi synced and it worked pretty flawlessly. as easy as using two aira compacts together. i kinda messed up some levels here but the back half is pretty.

this one is with the ep133, i sequenced an evoke loop from the ep133 and sampled that in, then sampled in some chords and other tones.

i like this loop i made on the evoke today. i wanted to make a sample to chop up on the p6 so this is what i rolled up. i like the different granular engine presets, i dont know how to really dial in a sound with the granular engine so its nice to have some examples of where it can go beyond just shimmer sounds.

also, i thought i would want it to be in Normal synth mode but actually Easy mode seems to make more sense for me. in Easy mode each instrument is actually its own individual preset that can be tweaked from there, in Normal mode all the other parameters stay the same when you switch instruments. similarly to the granular presets, Easy mode gives a better picture of what can be achieved with the backtide modulation.

having gone through (meaning bought and sold) lots of sonicware devices, i think i’ll pass (can’t stand that sequencer) but i must admit, they’re coming up with really interesting ideas. it’s a shame that everything besides the sound engines are meh. i would definitely buy smaller, externally sequence-able versions of all their liven product line but with the current footprint, they can’t earn the valuable space on my tiny desk

Mine landed yesterday and wound up with some unexpected time in the evening. Sounds really cool, and I was able to get up and running pretty quickly. Not sure how much I’ll use the sequencer but paired with the 404 it’s a nice sound source.

A quick idea sampled into the 404:

Cool! You’ve captured a mood that’s both pensive and urgent. Post more! :blue_heart:

my little workflow boost i discovered yesterday was that holding Func and pressing a button like “length” or “note” cycles through the options, much faster than switching to the encoder for those kinds of operations

Thanks for listening and the comment! Appreciate it! I’d love to post more but damn time is fleeting!

got a couple tracks featuring evoke sounds.

this one i had one 4-track pattern on the evoke synced to the p6, did some muting whatnot. mostly muting.

this one from the other day is a few evoke sounds sampled onto the p6 and playing along with the s1. i like changing the waveforms to mix up the instrument presets, brings instruments into different places. i really like the AMBI chord sets too, they are hard

i could only find liven decksavers in stock in europe with wacky shipping costs but there was one on amazon from germany and i had a free shipping boost from a different order so i have that rolling in eventually without doubling the cost with shipping. huzzah

taking a couple days off work, but still have schoolwork to take care of. took a break from the books and went to a nearby park with the evoke and ep133. all the melodic stuff is from the evoke, sequenced the string bass on the evoke and sampled the other sounds onto the ep133 to sequence. i like the different vibes this track hits, especially like how it goes from kinda dissonant to big upbeat happy energy. one of my favorite tunes in a while!

gonna keep the tunes comin in. i sequenced four tracks on the evoke with the ep133 and made this jammer. ive been mildly thinking about a seqtraq just for the rompler aspect but i think the evoke actual covers most of the rompler sections i like anyways. if only there was a Jazz Doo’s on the evoke.

made a pattern on the evoke and stemmed it out onto the m8 for arrangement. i tried running it back through the evoke’s granular engine but it was clipping like hell by my own mistake. wish there was more direct knob control over granular parameters, i realized that wasnt the most fun. but at the same time the menus arent that bad to quickly flip through

Is there no way to set BPM at odd numbers under 80? Really? I guess I’ll have to double the tempo!

Try clocking it from the digitone to achieve a wider range of BPM. If you want, I can help you get it set up, but I’d have to look at the manual so it might be a little bit before we can do it, but it shouldn’t be too much trouble unless it’s some trouble in which case it will be troublesome.

Great idea! I’ll connect it up to the 404 tonight and see if it helps!

DN is taking a little sabbatical! I got the Evoke a couple of weeks ago, and I’ve had about 2 hours with it, so DN is tucked away to stop the temptation! I’m weak!
