Sonicware CyDrums Sample Pack by LØSTLVLS

Hello friends! I’ve finally finished my sample pack of the Sonicware CyDrums, an awesome little wavetable synth with heaps of attitude that punches well above its weight.

The CyDrums from Tokyo-based SonicWare Inc is a little monster - a dual wavetable synth geared towards percussion sounds, with loads of potential for synth and bass, leads, chords and effects.

This sample pack is designed to offer a wide range of sounds for making entire tracks - all manner of basic stuff such as drum sounds, bass and synth tones and much more. There are also ‘Synth Plus’ sounds which are sounds recorded from the CyDrums processed through a number of effects - perfect for use in a sampler which doesn’t have great built-in effects, or for quick inspiration.

The pack contains 592 one-shot samples, with the voices organised into their respective folders: 64 Bass Drums, 64 Snares, 64 Percs, 64 Claps: 32 Closed Hats, 32 Open Hats, 64 Toms, 64 Bass sounds, 64 Synth sounds, 32 Synth Plus sounds, 32 Effects (FX): 64 Synth, 64 Synth Plus, 64 FX sounds and 16 Transients.

This pack contains 32 Oscillators, which are long one-shot waveform samples of the onboard synth voices designed to loop endlessly with minimal pops or clicks, regardless of how high or low they are played on the keyboard. These are presented in 24-bit/48kHz.

There are also 10 Sample Chains provided with the download, including .ot files designed for use with the Elektron Octatrack (pre-sliced sample chains). These sample chains are presented in 16-bit and 44.1khz sample rate.

This pack comes with several versatile Ableton Live instruments (compatible with Live Suite 12.1.5 and above). These are known as ‘Shaper Racks’ - instrument racks containing all the pack’s one-shots and oscillators, as well as a load of effects and controls mapped to 16 Macros, offering control of various parameters, as well as 16 Presets (or Snapshots in Ableton Live terminology).

Each individual sound has been carefully and respectfully tweaked to gently tame unpleasant resonance, remove super low-end where it’s not required and more or less unify the sample volume across the pack. This ensures the samples sound tight and juicy right out of the box, but allows enough headroom for further processing down the line.

This one was a lot of fun - the synth engines are surprisingly deep with loads of sweet spots. Let me know if there are any issues in the download and I will fix them ASAP.

Whoops, apologies and thanks for letting me know about the title!

Such a cool little machine… Really burned the midnight oil on this one.

Let me know if there’s anything else I’ve mucked up and I’ll get it fixed ASAP!

Thanks everyone!! If you have Ableton Live 12 Suite, check out the Shaper Racks - they get really nasty! They use stock Live instruments/effects and work great on Push 3. Would appreciate any feedback.

I just listened to the 5 demo tracks for Cydrums and I was very impressed. Great samples and very well thought out/just good music demos. I’ll be buying for sure.

Thank you very much appreciate it!

The redesigned Ableton Live racks and the demos definitely took the longest this time. And the documentation - 14 pages long nowadays, used to be two. :stuck_out_tongue:

Hi everyone, sorry to bump the thread but @Zac has kindly brought to my attention that there was an issue getting the one-shots working on MPCs. Long story short - it was an issue with the encoding of the files, and this is now fixed! So if you have an MPC and want to get these samples working, the newly-encoded versions are now available to download from the Bandcamp, having replaced the previous version.

If these don’t work or if there are any issues, please let me know.

Now to re-encode all the packs.

This is great! Selling me on the Cydrums

To my ears great for glitchy perc, odd synths, + weird gnarly basses and kicks

Honestly it’s so good for filthy kicks and weird synth/percussive noises!
