Songs which melt away your snobbery (with only pleasure and no guilt)

And now for the conclusion:

The '80s are cheesy guilty as fuck!

Not, a worn out recording, of a favorite song
 just a favorite song

Rick Astley had an amazing voice no doubt
right up there with Robert Palmer.

Despite some creepy lyrics, this song is cheesy in the best way

I love that era of Cliff Richard. I mean, Devil Woman, We Don’t Talk Anymore, Dreamin’
great shit to me, just shit to others.

One of the best band’s best songs. Amazing musicians who wrote brilliantly crafted songs.

I hate snobbery especially musical snobbery. The idea that some bands/artists are ‘cool’ and some aren’t is just plan nonsense. Same goes for the generalisation that mainstream = bad and underground = good. Sadly I see a lot of these sentiments around here which saddens me. It’s reinforced by terms like ‘cheesy’ or ‘guilty pleasures’ IMO.

Rant over.

Another crafter of timeless songs

No shame, no guilt. Jam and Lewis are legends.

As is Kurtis Mantronik on production duties. Sadly I missed Joyce Sims doing an anniversary tour of this classic album

You’re right, “guilty pleasure” is a term that is often wrongly used, out of laziness more than anything. Level 42’s music is my musical happy place, guaranteed to lift me out of the glums every time. And as you say, “Starchild” is one of their very best

I’ve had Love Games as an ear worm for about the last 30 years, especially the synth hook. Mike Lindup is so underrated IMO. His old fella wasn’t to shabby either! His scores/soundtracks pop up now and again.

Talking of ear worms, this one has been hanging around since it came out. Who doesn’t love a horn section, memorable hooks, fingerstyle bass lines and an Ella Synthex?

Not sure if I’m correct here, but I’m viewing this thread as cheese bag pop tracks which you wouldn’t normally admit to liking (especially with my refined and educated taste over decades ) but somehow resonate with you on a deeper emotional level
 such as :grinning:
.
