Song mode astuce

Hello team!! I might come across as a noob but I can’t find a way to chain two songs recorded in the project. I would like to be able to create a song in song 1 with for example pattern 1 + 2 then another with pattern 3 + 4 in song 2 then read them in succession without having to put everything in 1 song because I have my live which I want in 1 song so I have 200 rows programmed and I think there must be a better method because for example if I want to replace the second song of the live by the 4 em and put the second in 4 I will have to copying it is not logical in my opinion. Thanks

Song chain automation is unavailable, afaik. You choose the desired song manually from the menu, then you press play.

cool, I’ll try this method. the best thing would be that we can load an entire piece on a row then that all the editing sticks together, they should do an update for that. THANKS @basic_helix

I wonder if @mzero’s elk-herd tool can merge Songs…

thank you @LyingDalai I will find out, I was also wondering when I back up the project on the computer is the editing of the song mode also saved in the file?

I believe so, yes.

But you can check it yourself: create a new project, in which you make a few patterns and use the song mode to chain them.
Backup it. Delete it from your DT. Upload it back. And please report here your conclusions
I think it is simple enough to test.

Yes, I will try to do that. I’ll let you know if it works.

I may be misinterpreting this quote but it doesn’t appear possible.

That Elk-herd doesn’t handle this is a pity. But understandable as it’s a very niche need I guess.

But this doesn’t mean Songs are not saved within projects.

elk-herd doesn’t handle Song data because at present there is no way to get the song data for the active project from the device! When Elektron adds a way for me to do that, I’ll add this to elk-herd. (Yes, I’ve already asked them, and they know of the omission - so please don’t bug them about it.)

Thus, elk-herd’s project files don’t include song data at all.

Transfer backs up projects saved to the +Drive using a different access method, and those do have song data.

Thanks for chiming in + confirming this as a fact. And for your work!

I’m guessing the same applies to kit data … that Elektron have not yet done sysex export for kits ? I’m inferring that from the lack of kit backup on transfer.

Hi , I tried deleting a project from the Digitakt and reloading it and I have my song mode edition intact as well as all my settings so that’s cool!!
