Pitch up, I guess?

I have a project called ‘pitch up’ always on my CF. It automatically resamples whatever’s in rec buffer 1 across the other buffers, doubling the speed each time, so at least you can use resamples to go above +12 semitones. Intended to build chains and play in chromatic mode with slices on scenes to move up octaves with crossfader. Don’t think I have done that yet though - it’s more fun to then take the rate down and use it as a downsampler. The buffer on track 6 has to be played at +1 rate for original pitch - very crispy!

Hahaha this is so ludicrous and functional. A very ‘Elektron’ workaround, and a testament to the OT’s flexibility. Good stuff!

i would like to audio-preview files on the Octatrack whilst in the “Card Tools -> File Manager” mode. It’s a fascinating area, just explored it recently (love the Side A and Side B concept) … i am currently working on song production … sometimes double and triple tracking synth lines for chorusy width etc … but i don’t need all those files in a project for a performance.

currently, File Manager does not allow audio-previewing (afaik).

audio previewing files directly while in File Manager mode would be so cool, making it easier to select the essential files to put in a folder for a performance, thus keeping it clean and easy when playing live (not too many extraneous audio wavs, thus avoiding distraction).

hmmm yes that is the usual way to preview audio files, but this previewing functionality is not currently enacted in the Card Tools - File Manager mode, hence the request.

I’m pretty sure I use it in card tools. Not with OT now will check later (& delete my misleading posts if wrong!)

Make sure you are on the .wav file not the accompanying .ot file of the same name?

checked a couple of times, i thought i was mistaken but in fact no, it won’t preview. lol yes i did make sure to be trying it on the .wav files (although initially did not notice the .ot files were alongside them). cheers for chiming in though.

Can confirm I am able to preview samples in card tools>file manager

(1.30C OT Mki )

Also maybe relevant :
preview without effects is ON
Am monitoring on headphones
Not in studio mode
Headphone mix is midway between mains and cue (as per default)

now it is working for me.

not sure why, therefore it must be aliens.

thank you for being so persistent in the interaction.

I know i’m getting old (eyes) but wish they could make the interface look more snappy, make better use of the screen resolution and the wave editor better visible…

also could do with a FUNC-click to Zero on the midi side: NOT2 NOT3 NOT4

In audio editor: Normalise to (say) -10db

The LED indicator on for the active page is only ever-so-slightly brighter red compared to the other ones when editing trigs whilst playing. On my machine it is barely noticeable, so much so that I need to keep clicking page to cycle through the four pages just to orientate myself and see which page is active… :frowning:

Oh this thread needs a revive.

I have a feeling Elektron will do a partial bug fix update for the OT. Some of these small requests have a chance of getting in there.

So - one that I don’t think anyone put before:

When switching on ‘per track’ the track lengths and master should not revert to 16.

They should stay at whatever they were set to before.

If it’s a flex machine, recording to buffers can be done while you’re on the midi side. Very nice. It’s not even like working blind - You get the visual + by the track number to show that you’re recording, even though it’s really a midi track in that context.

The same does not apply to pickup machines. Same buttons, but no response if you’re on the midi side. Would be great to live play external gear into the pickups using the OT’s trig buttons on midi chromatic mode.

Guess this this might be just a mk1 thing. Those fancy extra buttons on the mk2 might have somehow solved this already

Indeed. I really think there are some reasonable things that could be done which do not require large amount of additional code (of which there is apparently no room).

Yes please make the page indicator clearer or even change it’s color. I might be wrong but it seems like the green light is not used while you are in edit mode so maybe use that? Like you, I have to click through the pages to see what page I’m actually working on.
