Small Mac app for batch converting samples to mono for Digitakt

I kept running into the same tedious workflow — downloading sample packs, realizing they’re all stereo, and having to convert them one by one before loading them onto my Digitakt. Since it converts to mono internally anyway, I figured why not do it beforehand and save the hassle.

So I built a Mac app called “It’s mono, yo!” that does exactly this. Drag in your WAV or AIFF files, pick your bit depth and sample rate, and batch convert them all at once.

Just shipped v1.2 with configurable output (16/24/32-bit, sample rate conversion, WAV/AIFF). Built it in SwiftUI — was a fun project to combine my music and coding hobbies.

It’s on the Mac App Store: https://itsmonoyo.iamjarl.com

Not true. - the OG Digitakt does not “convert” to mono. In other words, it does not mixdown stereo to mono. If i remember correctly, it just takes the left channel and thats it. Just try it - hard pan everything to left/right and see which one will import just silence…

Good point! Transfer is great for getting samples onto the device. It’s mono, yo! is more for when you want to prep your sample library independently — batch convert a whole folder of files with specific output settings (bit depth, sample rate, format) before they ever touch Transfer. Think of it as a step before Transfer rather than a replacement. Especially useful if you’re also feeding samples to non-Elektron gear at the same time.

You’re right @thebiglebowski, thanks for the correction! Even more reason to convert properly beforehand then — a summed mixdown keeps the full sound instead of just the left channel.
