Is it possible when using slots to assign a sample to a track. For example have slots 1 - 8 playing out of track 1 and 9 - 16 playing out of track 2? To give me a pseudo polyphony when using slots mode?

Best poly workaround for me is RK002 midi cable.
Midi tracks can be used instead with that cable between midi in/out.

very interesting, I quickly looked this up. You are using the RK002 with the octatrack preset and using loopback mode? Could you elaborate a little bit about how you have this set up?
IIRC the script is Polymux with aftertouch.
Easy setup. Choose midi source channel (here ch1 for my keyboard), then polyphonic channel targets (ch1-8 for OT). Each new note uses a different channel, in a round robin way.
With midi loopback you can use a midi track instead of keyboard.
