Its been a wonderful first 3-4 months of giving up Push and buying the Octatrack. There have been moments of joy and discovery as well as frustration.
If someone can please tell me how to use swing and and slide trigs ?
I pull up the menu pressing FUNC/BANK on rec mode. And I see the display with the trigs.
But how do i activate or use them ?

You program the trigs to where you want steps to be swung, then turn the level knob to adjust the swing amount. This works per track, ie. you can have diff swing amounts and swing grids for every track 
you need to change amount of swing. don’t remember how to do that, maybe func + arrows left/right or somewhere - check manual.
FN + C/G lets you set the Pattern Swing that affects the default swing trigs (odd trigs).
You move the highlight onto the slide or swing trigs with the up down arrows btw
