Currently on sale, and lovely sounding based off the demos. However I can’t shake the feeling it’s just another glorified sample pack, and that most everything that comes out of it sounds a bit samey. Has anyone had experience with this?
That was my experience with Auras. It sounds fantastic and there is some exquisite sound design and fantastically playable stuff - but - the aesthetic they have gone for is so well realised, so ingrained into the palette that I found it difficult to veer away from.
On the one hand, that’s quite an achievement - they really know they are going for and nail it 100%. If that sound is what you want, you are going to be very happy indeed. On the other hand, of course, if you’re not feeling it well…
However, being able to load your own samples into Landforms (and Cycles) will alleviate this - I kinda wish there were cheaper “engine only” versions available without the many GB’s of samples/presets as both Landforms and Cycles look like wonderful audio mangling environments.
I didn’t realize they’re giving people the ability to load their own sounds in. That’s cool!
I’ll definitely be interested to see what these plugins are like divorced from the samples they provide. IE: how much of the heavy lifting is being done by the audio engine, and how much of it is just the samples? I’m inclined to believe a truly versatile wavetable synth would be a lot more interesting than an instrument that people will hear and instantly be able to identify as “Landforms”.
SPECTRES out today;
Kinda perfect for my upcoming project, price is not bad too, will grab.
and how is it?
Liking it very much, there is one problem, now i want the rest S+A libraries too hehe. But to sum up it’s perfect for very organic drones that are instantly good starting point for a mood that i was looking for.
Yes i have circles and choreographs, and wonder how this is different
And if its worth 199
Keep in mind, that it’s best for more…atonal is not the right word, but maybe eerie music, I imagine the combination of all 3 would produce very interesting results
