Just ordered a SL mk3 61 to control all my elektron gear!
I haven’t seen one in person, just research from here and YouTube…
Hope i like it as much when it arrives…
Hope they add mutate and deviate off the launch key…
but I mainly wanted a proper full size midi keyboard with the lights for scales
so not super worried about the sequencer

Hey mate, did you own a SL MK3? I’m about to get one and something that I was not sure about, How does the transport controls work when not in control mode?
do you have to swap to in control mode to get it to start ableton or your daw?
are the transport controls mappable now?
I want to use it as my main midi keyboard and use regular midi directly in stand alone mode
to my elektron gear so don’t have latency but still want to be able to use the transport controls… I saw a couple people talk about this…
I’m sure I’ll figure it out but just wanted to see how other people manage this…
Control mode needs to e flipped between DAW control and standalone control. I got used to this pretty quick and it works great. Love the SL MKIII. The best controller I have ever used, it’s perfect for my workflow, love it!

I don’t use the transport buttons usually. That’s something I gotta try. Usually I use it for keys to play chords and scales. Drum pads too. That’s my only area of expertise. I did use it to control my yocto 808. Soon I will use it to control my Kyra.

That’s what I like to hear because I’ve paid for one and waiting on delivery and I didn’t get to test it in the shop at all this time… I guess it’s only one button to switch between modes…

Just reading through this thread what Elektron templates are available besides Octatrack ?
Do you have OT and have you used with the S Mk III ?

There is at least Octatrack and Digitone templates. Pretty sure even Digitakt.
The Octatrack template was incomplete last time I checked. Some note assignments for mutes and solos was not correctly mapped for example. Easy fix though.

My OT is in my sock drawer with socks over it. I haven’t used the SL MK III with it yet. With all novation stuff mapping is fairly easy. But yes OT has a deck saver and socks for its hibernation period.

Same here, about to bring her (OT) out again I have been into iOS music lately. New setup is probably going to be centered around iPad (synths /multi-sampler) with OTMKII and SP16.
Considering the SL MkIII as controller for it all
As far as I can tell there are templates for octatrack, analog rytm, digitone and digitakt on the elektron front.

Mine just arrived didn’t think I’d get it till next week because of COVID-19 delays…
there is more involved in setting it up than I thought…
now I need midi thru box so don’t have to daisy chain everything together and have to have everything switched on just to get midi to each thing

I so badly wanted one of these for my desk. Didn’t fit height by 1cm. Top knobs dragged against underside of desk. Actually considering getting a new desk (despite how expensive this was) just to get this keyboard.
Bummer, maybe you could lower the shelf somehow ?
I only got it today, but it fairly easy to use and great being able to switch between my gear with a simple press of a button… it seems pretty good so far.

I tried before returning it. I’d have to build a replacement tray. I picked up the NI keyboard but I really don’t care about NI software and so I’m returning it this weekend (unopened).
I’m thinking about the output desks, which I probably should have done in the first place. I have a StudioDesk which I like, except it’s massive. So right now I have my dining room table pushed into the living room (pretty awk) and it’s in the dining room. I need to move it back to the basement but I want a setup that’s on the main floor. The output desk could fit in the corner of the living room and not eat too much space while still allowing me a small rotating techno setup. A general purpose table would also work. Damn it I have gas for tables too

Got mine yesterday! Looking forward to getting everything set up particularly a template for my A4 and DN. Had a quick play with it controlling Ableton and everything looks pretty straightforward and mapped well.

I’m thinking of buying one mostly for the keybed, from the ones I tried in the shop, it is good. A bit of a waste though…
I’m curious how you all new owners gel with the sequencer and arps on this.
