Sine Compression Technique

I’ve been fascinated with this Sine Compression technique which I first learnt from the Frequent video. I’ve tried this approach with a few different tools but figure it’s time to see what the OT can do with it

My first attempt started with a sample source in track 1 with 3 neighbours. Each track had an Equalizer with a randomised lfo modulating eq freq 1 & 2 (-64 gain), followed by Compressor with max ratio/gain and minimum threshold. Definitely achieving the desired tone so far!

Anyone using this technique and got any cool tricks to try out for tracks 5-8?

Obviously resample track 4 and repeat would be the easy option, multiband split into master might be more interesting

Oh… compressed sine wave bass sounds…

I got all excited reading the thread title.

Anyway. Yeah the OT can do a similar thing, but the ableton glue compressor sounds good because it has a soft clipper on it that distorts nicely. The OT compressor does not have that.

So you get a different sound. And there’s no notch filter either, but you can use the EQs to make one.

You can also use the OT filter distortion to slam a sine wave into distortion and square it off.

Ultimatley for me, I simply prefer synths for doing synth noises. I went through that phase with ableton of using sampler and resampling bass sounds endlessly when “bass music” was a thing. Not really interested anymore. But yeah, can get some interesting tones out of the OT compressor for sure.
