Simple free music software for on Windows work laptop

I’ve got a Windows work laptop, that I don’t want to bloat with a DAW, which it wouldn’t be able to properly run anyways.

But I’d like to mess around with my Oxi One to get to know it better, when commuting (I’ve got a long commute).

Any simple music software that the Oxi One could sequence, that runs easily on Windows with only a small and free install?

Like a small groovebox would be enough, if it has some sample slots to fill or basic synths.

Heard of it but never used, will check it out! It’s a tracker? Can you sequence it anyways?

MPC Beats is free but not sure that’s what your looking for

Yeah is a tracker… there’s a few (free) trackers out there… renoise has an extended trial/works as a free version. Depends what you want to do with it (drive it from another sequencer)

NanoStudio v1 - free for desktop users, works well on older hardware.

Caustic 3 - free for desktop users, although the developer stopped developing and scammers have taken over the domain name, this link goes to the internet archive for the downloads.

Koala Sampler - the same app we all love on mobile available as an experimental port for Windows, also provided for free.

If you want to keep your work-computer clean you could also try some of these:
(Chrome browser generally works best with midi in my experience)

iirc you have a motu interface, maybe performer lite which comes free with every interface?
or maybe the VCV rack?

So I’ve found out it’s not possible to install things on my work laptop, without the ICT password. So I’m going to look into the web based stuff

Do you own an iPhone/iPad? Lots of great possibilities with Oxi and iOS synths/DAWs for you commute

You can probably run puredata from a pen drive.

Might not be a cut of your jib though.

TBH the only piece of software that is available for windoze, is not a DAW, and i’m happy with, is paid.

talking about free options, i would probably go for NanoStudio v1.
